Rear Deck Chairs

I’m still trying to outfit my 2009 C Dory. I was wondering what most folks use for aft deck chairs. I was thinking of something one could fold up and store on the bunk when not in use. I think I want a smaller chair that could hold a 6’ male.

The cockpit of the CD22 is small. You can only fit two of these there.

We have an older model of these same chairs (posted above), that we originally had in our 22 and now in our 26 (so in use about 18 years). They are simple, fold flat and are comfortable. We originally tried the simple folding camp chairs, that fit in a bag, but they we not comfortable.

I also needed cockpit seating (for a 22' Angler) and I went a different route. I got two white Igloo 120 quart coolers, and covered the tops with padded self-adhesive boat flooring. The padded flooring gives a softer surface to sit on, and your butt (or a cushion) won't slide off of it. I put more flooring on the bottoms so they stay put on the cockpit floor.

The height and depth are actually pretty good for seating, and the gunwales behind you give a pretty comfortable 'slouch' angle as the backrest. If I have passengers, I use the v-berth bolster pillows as back cushions. They'll seat 1-2 people each, and they leave plenty of room in the cockpit for standing/fishing/whatever. They might be a little long for the shorter Cruiser cockpit, but there are shorter coolers out there.

They also give you a ton of extra storage space, and they're narrow enough that you can stack them in the pilot house and lock them up while you're away.
