I have a Raymarine C-90W chart plotter that doesn’t fine the satellites. It worked for years. I’ve sent it back to Raymarine for repair and they changed the internal antenna. Still didn’t work. Sent it back again and they say it works at their shop. Got it back and it worked off and on in Fl. Now I’m in Tennessee and it doesn’t work. Raymarine says it’s something on the boat but I haven’t changed Anything. Any ideas anyone, anyone, anyone?

Is there anything "new" on the top of the cabin or on a shelf or locker between the MFD to block the signal? Agree that an external antenna, would be the next step. When the units first came out, almost all had external antennas. I have tried some with both internal and external--and always had a better signal with the external antennas.
It is entirely possible, that with time, some parts have "aged" Almost all of this is solid state, but minute corrosion on the boards may be enough to cause issues. --and the receiver is just not as good as it once was. You would think that Raymarine would have found that.
Also, have you checked the voltage to the chart plotter, with it on? Is it still 12.6 volts or more?
I note that in some areas, even heavy tree growth will block some of my Sirius satellite radio signal...heavy growth may cut down the number of satellites that are picked up. Have you checked the "map" of satellite received and signal strength (I assume that the C 90W has this function.) This product dates from before FLIR purchased Raymarine, and there were early software problems with the series. I believe the last software update was almost 6 years ago.

The plotter worked for years as it sets now. I haven’t added any thing new. I even told Raymarine that itworks something’s than it quites again. I think I’ll just use my IPad. I’ve disassembled my everything trying to see if anything was out of order but all seems.in tack. Voltage is up so I’m at a lost. I’m not paying 350.00 for an external antenn. It just crazy. Thanks for your input.

You need to make sure your are only pricing the antenna, not a GPS receiver. They can look the same.
I have what appear to be two pretty much identical GPS antennas on my boat. However, one is just the antenna that goes with my Humminbird chart plotter. The other one is a Garmin GPS receiver that feeds my NMEA 2000 network.
The Humminbird antenna lets the GPS receiver in the plotter work. The Garmin GPS receiver does all the work to put GPS info on the NMEA bus without any other device. The GPS receiver is more expensive than just a plain antenna, but was a lot less than $350. A quick online search shows GPS antennas for less than $100. If you search harder you can probably get them for even less.

I had a similar issue with a small raymarine chart plotter on my open bow boat with internal GPS - somehow under the glass and aluminum corner of the windshield it had issues as well. I moved it and it worked fine. Not sure why but somehow the corner with the aluminum seemed to interfere with its signal.
