Ray C-80 sources

Try one more thing before you write it off: turn off all power to the unit by shutting off the batteries. On occasion, our E-80 will not shut down properly (seems to take the right "timing" on holding the off button), and I either get the white screen, or the screen goes black, but you can still see a faint glow of light around the rheostat button. It takes removing all power from the unit to get it to shut down properly and then it starts up fine.

Good luck. I know there are plenty of newer, fancier, sleeker models out there, but I really like my Raymarine.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

My Raymarine C-80 is showing a white screen of death. Anyone have a source on new ones ? I am watching Ebay etc..

Are you sure it's the display, and not a component that is the problem? We had a bad GPS puck that took us down. The guys at Rodger's Marine Electronics here in PDX helped me find the issue.

I had this happen in the middle of Jackson Lake this past summer. I called the Raymarine people and they told me there is a master reset that you can do...re-boot may be a better word. It consisted of holding down the gray soft button on the bottom left of the console for several seconds. I'm not talking about the power button, but either the left most gray soft button or perhaps the one next to it. The whole think jumped and jived, and came back up and has been fine since. Yours may be the same problem as I experienced, maybe not. Ray marine said it happens on "rare" occasions, usually because one of the gray buttons, will stick and confuse the computer after several minutes. He Also said to check FIRST that I had no other buttons binding in their little holes.

Had this happen to me also some how it got changed to night on the screen and the brightness was to low to see it. Some how I got it back to the day screen.

I had the same problem after 5+ years without any previous problems.

I tried the usual power off-on cycle, but it did not work.

I pulled all the connectors from the rear of the C80 display,
sprayed the male and female contacts of the connectors with electronic
contact cleaner/lubricant and --
I reseated the connectors a couple of time before I re-applied power.....

This worked and has continues to work after 6 months without a hitch.

A cheap fix, if it works.
