Railblaza?

I know there are a few options for mounting items around the boat but I just came across these and wanted to point it out and ask for any experiences.

Check out:

http://www.railblaza.com/

The boating section shows the basics including the rail, top, and side mounts. I wonder how these compare to Scotty mounts.

They seem to sell them a few places including WM.

Bringing this one back up to the top. I looks like the Scotty line would be a good alternative with many accessories. We will be looking to get 6-8 different units for the boat after the camper canvas is completed.

Any opinions on these mounts? Do the rail versions stay put very well?

I purchased their LED Navigation lighting system for a 16 foot open fishing boat that I have. I am very impressed with both the quality and innovation of the product. I could have purchased a less expensive system, but I wanted lights that were easily removed when not in use, and had solid mounting hardware that was clean, and not a "fly line catcher."

Thanks for the endorsement Robbi! I notice there are different makes of similar products and many use similar star pattern plugs but not sure if any are cross-compatible. Scotty, Railblaza, Cabelas, Fish-on, Eagle Claw, Folbe...... I like some of the accessories from each of the brands and only wonder how many holes I want to drill in the boat for mounting the non-rail versions.....

We just purchased some Folbe rod holders. The materials and how it is put together is way better than anything we owned previously by scotty. A store in Woodinville was offering 2 for 1 on the rod holders with extended shaft. Couldnt resist and picked up a pair.

Just wish that all accessories were compatible with these.

Not to hijack this thread, but a claim like that above deserves an opportunity for a person to examine it more closely:

Folbe Rod Holders

Watch the video. Easy set and release feature looks to be a winner!

I have tried the folbe quick release rod holder end up getting rid of them. I am the only one that can use them right on my boat. Everyone is so used to pulling the rods out ( forward) or raising them up from one end that the first time they use the folbe they dam near break my rods. You have to raise the rod with two hands and level until the rod holders opens other wise it jams and will not give you the rod no matter how hard you try and pull. In fact it will lock the rod in place. I most likely did not give them a fair change but I was just to tired of yelling at people that are used to scotty's type rod holders, which I use. Its just a matter of training people. I have a lot of first time or once a year anglers on the boat and I try to keep it simple. They are well built.

I have not installed mine yet, but from reading on their site, they said that to ease the release mechanism, you can apply some lubricant. Not sure if that would have helped in your case with new anglers. I tried them on another persons boat and liked them. Getting them for 1/2 off sealed the deal.
