Maybe this is too easy. We'll see. Look at the pictures and then everybody what I've built.

Well, if Mac didn't need it, it probably isn't really necessary...
Ha! Well Mac didn't need it, but we do. Seriously, this is THE ONE THING Julia keeps pestering me to build; we need it!

OK, I'll give you all a hint: It's for a C-Dory 22 Cruiser.

Is it to fill the gap in the v-berth in front of the porta-potti?
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding!

Thanks for your calls, we have a winner.

Why is this important? Because we cruise with two young children aboard. Two children who BOTH want to sleep next to mommy (or, if she's not there, next to daddy). Which puts mommy in the MIDDLE of the V-berth. Which puts mommy's HEAD in that gap. Not cool.

I've ordered the foam, which I will pick up tomorrow. I've bought the Sunbrella fabric, and will bring it to Bellingham. Why? Because I'm hoping to do a trade: If I can find somebody who knows how to sew trapezoidal box pillows out of Sunbrella, I'll pass along my fabric and foam. In exchange, I'll make another "shelf" as you see here; which fits into the gap without much wiggling, and requires NO MODIFICATION to the boat.

Eh? Any takers? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Talk to Rachel Taylor at Custom Cushions in Bellingham, (360) 671-3972.

Our CD22 came with a cushion covering the PortPotti area - your didn't? Our CD25 has a cushion there too but it keeps falling down if we look at it cross-wise, I was just going to beef up the thingees it sits on...Something is definitely needed here if you don't have it, no question about it!

Tim,
Great addition. I imagine there will be quite a lot of interest from others of us who have the 22's with this "problem". Maybe if you get a number of folks interested you can get a better price on the cushion.
I don't know enough about the 22 history to be able to say when they started doing this.
For Pat, they still do cover the PP area with a removable cushion but it doesn't come all the way back to the bulkhead which means there is a space perfectly designed for your head to fall off your pillow.

Yes, there is a factory cushion that partially covers the porta-potty area. The this cushion doesn't come all the way to the bulk head is that makes it much more difficult to get in and out of the v-berth. With the way it comes, one can swing one's legs down, duck and come out facing forward a bit more easily.

Roger,
Lucky you. Us old farts have to slide out either feet or head first so it doesn't really make any difference.
So this is "reverse age discrimination" !!! (also cheaper!!)
