I think I have or am about to mess up something and I need some help or advice. I wish Dr. Bob lived in Fall City or better yet, I lived in Pensacola.

I borrowed Woodduck Ken's Lake Powell prop, and when I put it on, I needed to use the aft washer (not the thrust washer, the one that goes in front of the castle nut) from my Honda prop (I think). I don't think I changed the thrust washer. Of course I did not get to Lake Powell, or even east of Yakima, this year, so I returned Ken's prop but did not put my own Quicksilver prop back on.

Now, I am trying to put my own prop back on and I don't know what goes with what...when I used the thrust washer that I thought was right (bronze colored), which was still there after removing Ken's prop, I could not get the castle nut on far enough to expose the hole for the cotter pin. When I tried the other thrust washer (stainless, I think it is the one for the Honda) I can get the castle nut on and cotter pin in but the prop does not seem like it turns quite freely enough. The Mercstuff site makes a big deal, you MUST use the correct thrust washer or you will damage your drive.

I am kind of out of ideas. West Coast Marine is a 130 miles north and I don't know where I might take it to get a pro do it...

I need some help here! Thanks!

Think that which Localboy posted along with the exploded view (or in the shop manual if you have it) for the Honda, will tell you exactly what you need to know. I have not looked up the Honda prop parts list, but am quite sure it is on line.

Is there any chance that there is some fishing line caught between the thrust washer and seal? That is a common cause of damage to the seal, and would cause a sensation of more drag.

Pat go into Boats.net look under honda marine parts for a honda 150 hp and you will find what you are looking for .JIM
