Hi Everyone,

I'm new here. Don't own a C-Dory yet, but I've been admiring boats since I was a toddler and I know I want a C-Dory. Here's my question: I've emailed two other members by clicking on their emails associated with their profiles, but I haven't got responses from either of them. One was two days ago and the other was yesterday. I did get a copy of the emails I sent, which I wasn't expecting. Does it sound like I am doing this right? Am I missing something? Or am I just not patient enough?

Yes, you are sending Private Messages (PM for short) correctly.

You can check your PM account and see if sent. Most likely
the recipient isn't checking the site on a regular basis, working or on vacation, or other activity, or when they do check the site, they don't notice PM are waiting for them.

If you want to check if it is working, send me a PM and I will reply

Sending an email through the link is different than sending a PM (or private message). The latter is internal to the web site while the former actually generates an email. The email is sent to the email address on file with the server which may no longer be actively monitored by the member. This is especially the case for long term members who may have never updated their email addresses. So you may or may not be patient enough OR the email hooked to their C-Brat account may no longer be valid/monitored.

Yes you can send PM or email listed in their profile, and I use PM more often than the registered email address. Very handy

If you are using email try PM

Thanks for the advice. I was using the email. not pm. So I will also try pm!

I think that the e-mail link doesn't work. As they're telling you above, use a PM (personal message) instead and pray. When I've used PM's I've always received a reply.

As mentioned, PM is a way to send a message that stays inside the CBRAT system. If you send a PM you do not get an email copy. You can go to your "Sent Box" or "Out Box" to see if it is there. "Out" means you have completed the sending process. The message gets changed to the "Sent" box when the message is opened by the recipient.

If you are sending an "Email" it goes out to the recipient and you get a confirmation notice via email that it was sent and where it was sent to.

For active users, a PM will probably be most effective. For occasional users, IF their email address in the system is current, then that might get a quicker response. BUT as mentioned, if that email address has been inactivated or abandoned, you may not get a response.

It might be helpful to note a couple of things. The date of the post, and the number of post the author has contributed, might indicate how active the person is, taking into consideration how long since they first registered on the site. All of that info is available in the ID section on the left side of the page, left of the thread post.

Hope that helps.

One, or even two days, I'd say be patient. There are times that I don't get to my email every day either, altho while that's rare, to be honest with you, I'd like to just shut my computer down for a few days at a time. Too many of us have become too dependent upon our electronics...
