Question about Garmin GPS Cartridges

Does anyone know if Garmin ever made the G-Chart chip/cartridge for western lakes? I have been searching all over for one for some time now but actually not sure if a western lakes version was ever offered.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kev,
They make a few inland lake chips for different regions in the west. Most of these just show depths with depth contour lines. We have one that covered Jackson Lake and Yellowstone it's an SD card. Send me a pm with your street address and I will UPS it to you if you want to check it out. I'm not heading back out there for a while. If you go online to The GPS Store site. www.gpsstore.com phone 1-910 575 9544 Look up inland lakes by the general area and see if the lake you are looking for is listed in the contents. I think the chip I have mentioned above is Garmin VUS201R Inland Lakes part number 010-C0890-00 inland lakes west.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the offer. The SD cards are the newer version, not the same as a G-Chart, SD cards won't fit the Garmin 230 like I have. They stopped making the G-Chart cards some years back. The only place you can buy the G-carts is on the used market, there are plenty on eBay but nothing with inland lakes that I have found, I am not sure they ever made the inland lakes, if they did they sure are hard to find.

Just moving this back to the top for one last try. Based on the response here I think it’s time for a new GPS, one that I can purchase new cartridges for.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin - if you go the new GPS route, consider an iPad + Navionics + a RAM mount for the iPad. Bigger screen, good GPS, decent software (not great but getting better) and all the US and Canadian maps for about $40 total.

I think that they did it by state, which included some of the lakes of that state. When I had my 180, I had Idaho and Washington, which included major lakes within those states. They had much better coverage that the sd cards currently provided, however inland lakes does have coverage for quite a few lakes. The sd cards work better however, being faster and having the ability to download mapsource data...Ron

The lake maps were done for the mapsource data cards just after your cartridge West marine has the 76CX on sale for 180.00 it uses a micro SD card. We can load the maps for that.
