Questar Boats and North Pacific Hull Concept

I recently attended the Everett Boat Show, which is about 1/20th the size of the Seattle Boat Show and I came across this boat, the Questar with the North Pacific Hull. It was drawing quite a bit of attention.

Here is a link to the boat and hull design website: http://www.northpacificmarine.com/

Anyone have any knowledge of this boat and/or the hull design?

I found this boat fascinating. Looking and climbing over it, and reading about the hull which claims to be very efficient and requiring less horsepower to move it, being a local company (Sequim, WA) and struggling to get a footing in the boating market made me immediately think of C-Dory in their early days.

I'm sure there are some of you who are familiar with this boat and can set me straight, but this boat was intriguing.

If you see the boat, it is bare bones! No fancy interior finishes, just functionality. It also looked like it was put together by someone who's had to fix boats before, again not fancy but functional.

From their brochure, Questar gets it's lineage from Glasply boats, but with hulls that achieve 20-40% more performance.

I am very interested in what others have to say about this boat and hull.

BTW - I have no vested interest in this boat other than curiosity and maybe wishing a local boat builder some good luck in this tough market.

I'll be in Sequim in a couple of months--and will take a look--of course there are several members who live there.

My impression looking at the photos is that it is derived from the old tri hulls or slot hulls. Those worked fine in calm or slight chop--but in heavy weather, they would pound? No implication for this boat--but based on the tri-hulls.

You may be correct. All the photos show flat seas and lots of comments about racing, which I think implies mostly calm seas.

Still, if someone knows more please share.

thanks,
