OK, PNW'ers - I know you've got these on your walls. Speak up.

Looking to get a very large format map covering these areas, suitable for framing - maybe 3' x 5' or so. I've seen many throughout the years I like, but never bothered to get details.

Clarity and detail are important, but this is not for navigation - aesthetics are more important.

Suggestions?

I have seen some really nice "maps" of the Inside Passage (and Salish Sea/surrounding area) that are around 4' tall or so. They look really nice in person - I saw one at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Show last year in a sales booth. I've always wanted to have one on the wall (but currently traveling and no such blank wall to mount one on :D)

I think it is one of these from Fine Edge. Although on the website it's not totally clear if there is a one-piece one, the one I saw at PT was the whole thing, about 4' tall and 18" wide or something like that. Might be worth a call to them as if they are the ones I saw I would consider them wall-worthy.

The other option I would consider is a very small scale nautical chart that shows the whole thing. But I think the one above is nicer for looking at/dreaming, as it shows the land topography so nicely.

I have both sections of the Fine Edge Inside Passage maps, in fanfold form. Each is 24 x 60 inches. The split between north and south sections is just below Prince Rupert, so you don't get the full view of what some folks consider the logical end of a cruise of the southern portion. Small quibble, though. Very well done, with placenames on everything. You might want to get a laminated one to hang and a fanfold for a side table nearby to ease locating things, as the print is pretty small. The back has lat/lon for each placename, in an alphabetic list.

The paper stock requires mounting if you hang it. I expect a fanfold would mount well in case you don't like the glare lamination produces.

These are both great aids in the cockpit area if you intend to run the Inside Passage, so you have an overview quick at hand.

Cool stuff - thanks much!

Really like the wood one, Dave - just need to find it somewhere to see in person.

Cool - the Sobay's look like another nice option. I like that they come rolled and not laminated...don't really want shiny if framing.

Linky for online ordering.
I have the one showing the southern portion of the Inside Passage up in our hallway, and I like it for the overview and as a nice graphic. There are errors in naming and history on it, and the texturing I guess you might call it on land is basically random, so it does not show drainages, etc. It is a light tan with white speckles on land. Mine is on foam core board, unframed. A frame would really nice it up. The Puget Sound San Juans Gulf Islands one they offer really looks like a chart. I like that better than mine.

I have one of the wooden maps of the San Juans that I bought from Metsker Maps in Seattle. Metsker Maps is right by the Pike's Place Market. They have them in stock, so you can see what they look like.

It's a relief map that shows depths. The quality is really good and the price didn't seem bad for what you get.
