Proper Gas Dock Edicate

A couple of days ago i got really pissed with another boater at the fuel dock.It all started when this guy pulled up ahead of me to fuel his boat.He was by himself so i figured it would be a quick in and out for fuel. It didn't take long for the gas attendant to fuel his boat but the guy wasn't leaving he just sit there.I waited about 15 minutes than i noticed a car pull up and a i guess his parents/wife and baby got out. The meet me at the fuel dock routine. His parents were old and it took forever for them to get in the boat, meanwhile his wife had meet some-one she knew and wandered off chatting. Finally everyone was in the boat, not leaving yet, this guy decides to put up the bimini but it will not set up properly so he there working away at it. That was it, i lost my kool. i motored up to his boat and told him in not so pleasant works to move it.He told me he would as soon as he put his top up.About 30 -40 minutes later he left and as he passed my boat he had the nerve to gave me a dirty look. I talked to the gas attendant about people should not be allowed to hold up other boaters like he did but told me he had no authority to do anything about it. I think there should be a section in depth about proper gas dock edicate when you take your boating course the same as there is about launching and retrieving your boat at a public dock. I rarely loss my kool like that but sometimes enough is enough!

Wow...Around here they would move you right off the dock - there would be none of that nonsense with a line of boats waiting to get fuel/pump out.

I agree the boater was totally inconsiderate of course. If I were mad enough I would probably tie right off to his boat, walk across, and request the fuel hose.

No section in a boating class would have made a difference to that gentleman. He is better than we are, plain and simple. Isn't it something how you are the bad guy as he leaves?

Same thing happens at my marina with the pump out dock. The small time commercial crabbers use it as a loading dock and the so called "guide" boats use it as a passenger loading dock. The chances of getting to use it as a pump out dock during fishing season are pretty slim. But, just like you, I and my piddly little problems are not nearly as important as those guys.

Now that's a plan that might work at the pump out dock. I could ask one of the customers on the guide boat to hand me the sewer hose! Those are all open sleds so a little drip on the way across would dry right out.

The same holds true not only at the fuel dock, but also at the boat ramp. When I back up to the ramp to launch the only thing stopping me from backing in right away, is the final safety chain and lines to my boat. I back up to the point of almost getting the trailer wet, then stop briefly then take care of these last moment safety features then carry out the launching and move my truck out of the way right away. Loading is in reverse of this...
I really lose my cool when bubba backs down the ramp and then loads the boat with cooler, knee boards and other necessary items and then unstrapped their boat and then backs down the ramp, only to find that they forgot the plug and or the boat does not run. Of course these people never realize that the ten boats waiting the launch or load are patiently waiting for their turn.

this is what paint ball guns are made for. first round in the side of the boat and if that dont work then one to the back side will get them moving.

I had a similar situation occur in the Carolinas. After waiting far long enough (10 minutes past his fill-up) I hailed the attendant on the radio and asked if they were doing business today, or if the new "dock owner" in the blue/wht bayliner was closing shop for the day. He was pushed off in less than a minute. I try to let the dock handlers take care of that type of business.

A-holes are everywhere, but thank god they are the minority. Even @ fuel docks and boat ramps.

I had one guy tell Meredith "F*$k you, bi*#h!..." after he cut in line at the Everett ramps on a busy summer Sunday. :amgry She had pointed out to him we were next to retrieve our boat. I had a walking boot on but I was so PO'd I put my truck in park, got out and confronted the prick. Fortunately, he returned to his truck and sped off or it would've been ugly and I don't normally go all aggresive like that...but he deserved it.

But he's just one a-hole idiot in the world. Most boaters are helpful, cooperative etc.
