Possession Coho 2014

I don't tie my own but I get slip ties and twist them so the points are opposite too. Dispute losing a few fish recently I have noticed the ones we net are often hooked both ways through the lip and have no chance of shaking off.

We went 1 for 2 today. Oil cans and also Picnic Pt (thx SeaStar). Interesting note the fish we missed at Picnic Pt was fairly nice sized - hooked 15 feet below propwash at 11am. The day before we hooked another by Shilshole doing same. I have seen this coho behavior in the ocean, but not in the sound so much.

Well, not much to report this trip. Saw Seastar hook and land a nice one this morning off Picnic Point and tried same area. Fished mid channel off Shipwreck, East Poss. Bar and Edmonds from Ferry to Oil tanks. Only 3 shakers to show for our all day efforts. Oh well, nice water and weather and have caught my fair share this year. Only saw Seastar's net among 200+ boats.
Good job to Seastar and Checkpoint II.

We did 3 for 5 yesterday and the same today. Tom Elliot was out there and I believe he had quite a few. We heard decent reports on the radio at shilshole so we may give that a try tomorrow if the usual is not working. Beautiful weather for this time of year!

Sounds like a great day guys. I stayed home, we have family in town. It looks like my coho 2014 season is over. I took all my fishing gear off the boat and am readying the boat for the off season.

Good luck out there! It was a fun season.

Thanks Tom for the time aboard Susan-E. We put 3 in the boat and enjoyed seeing some of the other C-Brats on the waters. I had not been as far south as we fished (oil cans & some beach) and enjoyed seeing the area. Peter...sorry I missed you man. It has been a while. Why putting your stuff up so early? Hope to be finished hauling potato harvest in a week or two and hope even more there is still some action going on. Maybe the slow numbers now simply mean they are spreading out more and not coming in as a big bunch...maybe? Or, just wishful thinking.
Upon returning to Everett Ramp, the count averaged .68 fish per boat checking in. So, our boat had 3 .....and we laughed a lot and enjoyed a great day on the water around other boats. Life is good.

A lot of fun this weekend with fantastic October weather!

Saturday we boated 2 fish around the double digits in weight off Picnic Point and lost one. It was slow after that so caught up with the fleet fishing Edmonds/Richmond Beach. I'd never been down there before and water was soooo smooth it was worth the run as a boat ride, Trolled for a bit hooking a shaker but that was about it. Both fish came on Green Glow Hot Spot/Green Glow Spatterback Hootchie. One at 54ft, one at 75ft.

Sunday I ran out with my dad for a quick trip. We'd only been able to fish one other time this year so it was good to get some time in with him. We boated 2 fish before low slack. One was the best fighting fish I think has ever been on my boat. 8-9lb silver that a made run at the beginning like a Chinook that had me thinking we snagged something or hooked somebody's down rigger at first. Rod wasn't bouncing, just bent over with line zipping out. After its run deep, it make 4-5 air shows tail walking across the water before tuckering out and making it in the net. Such a beautiful fish I would have released it had it not been hooked in the gills. We also came close to 2 limits of crab. Winter crabbing always beats summer crabbing. By the time we were heading in around 11, the fog came in thick. Vis was less than 1/8 mile. Glad to have the radar although it doesn't save you from morons without it. Fishing was slower but still good enough to get out. Both fish came on UV Gibbs Red Racer/Purple Haze Hootchie at 90ft.

I have the boat in the water through this month so hopefully it stays good enough to scratch out a coho or two each trip through the next couple weeks.

Great job Troy! Looks like the coho coming through have some size to them. Makes me want to pack the fishing gear back on the boat. :D
