Good Day to Dorydom, hopefully one of you can help alleviate my frustration with photo posting. I have successfully posted numerous photos to date but have noticed some system errors lately that are beyond my understanding. I have given up on groups of 5 as this never works for me any longer. Instead I will load singles as this seems to have the greatest chance of making it through. All photos have been reduced to the proper size.

Here are some of the things I see when having problems.
1. After a long period of time I get a screen telling me it cannot display the website, that I may not be connected to that site or that site is experiencing problems. At that point I cancel everything and keep trying.
2. I have come to my album on occasion to have 2 or 3 of the same photo show up even after it seemed not to work initially.
3. Sometimes one or a couple will go through with out issue and are "dismissed" and they show up in the album. Today I had one go through, was dismissed and nothing showed up. I have had a group of 4 disappear for over 2 days while all of you could see them they did not show up on my computer for a couple days. The irony is that the number of photos was correct, but some of them were not visible for a little bit.

Needles to say it is frustrating to sit here for over an hour at a time trying to get a couple photos posted, I am all ears, if you have something constructive to offer.
Thanks Mike

The only problem I noticed is that the last photo I posted does not show up as an enlarged photo, only a small rectangle with no photo...Yesterday I posted three, and all went on rapidly. I try and size them before hand, with little if any photoshop enhancement and in Jpeg format.

Have had the exact same problems as you without resolution. Even started a thread similar to this about it when I was trying to post photos of our recent trip north. Lots of good comments trying to help nothing really worked, so thought it must be a problem in my computer. Ended up taking 13 hours to post my photos one at a time. Even with one at a time it sometimes took over five trys or more to work.

So now that at least 2 of us believe were not crazy, can one of the leaders give us some pointers, possible look into a system glitch. I have had this problem for at least 3 months.
Was almost starting to think it might be some sort of conspiracy. :disgust

Have you tried using the Gallery Remote application? This is the applet (big) in the second tab when you click on "add photos". It works well for me.

Warren

 Thanks Warren, I am the master of my own destiny again! I also noticed larger groups of photos can be processed at one time as well.

As a result of my new found skill there are some new pic's in the 2007 Trips album that may interest some of you.

There can be data associated with a photo...shuttter speed, orientation
of the camera when the photo was taken, etc. At least in some cases,
I found I needed to delete that info from pictures I uploaded. I forget
what the term for this data is, but I'm someone reading this will know.

I had trouble adding pics today. It wouldn't let me add to the existing album. The link in the pulldown menu just refreshed the main page. Other links in the pulldown seemed to work fine.

I have given up. I get a different response almost every time. (Currently it is "File Upload in Progress" box IN FRONT of a 'You're bad and can't perform, of something to that effect) Today I was able to get one pic uploaded and wanted to create a new album. Can't even explain what happened after I clicked on that option. Entire site just melted.

I'm retired but don't have 13 hours.

Dave

I don't have the patience for that kind of aggravation. I'm new here, don't have a foto page, don't know how to create one, and if it's this tough, I don't care to find out. I do have a website of my own, have a page on it about our CD-25, linked to in our sig. Maybe I'll just stick with that.
(grouch mode off)

How do you change a photo from bmp format to jpeg? Are jpeg formated photos the only ones that can be posted? I get frustrated sometimes too, its a learn as you go process for me, I've never taken a class but I enjoy using the computer....untill it stops being fun.

same here. I just get 'in progress' message. I guess you'll never see the picture of me and my friends in front of the Comrade Lenin statue (or the Troll eating the VW bug) in Freemont. Seattleites know what I'm talking about.

Hey guys, did you miss the part about IT WORKS NOW?
Following Warrens advice 10 posts ago, I hit on something way better than any previous method!!!
It was even kind of easy for someone with the computer challenges I posess. Might give it a try.

Just about any graphics program will save a BMP image to a JPG image. Open the BMP image then save as a JPG image.

You can upload GIF images to your photo album also.

At least you helped Mike. With me it says my java script has a error, so my photo posting trouble is due to personal computer problems.

thanks,

Jay

Tried it one more time. Think with your help just might have it figured out. I may be slow but usually make up for it with persistence.

Much much thanks,

Jay

OK-I'm sure there is a way to post pictures using Applets big and Java and some other stuff I know absolutely nothing about. But how come I used to be able to add pictures simply by chosing the picture I wanted from 'my pictures' and uploading it to the album and now I can't? How come? Explain that to me. :? .
