PDF Manual for Victron BMV-600 Series

Just a note that Victron has now come out with the 700-series battery monitors. I believe these have replaced the 600-series, so anyone buying one now will likely be getting a 700-series unit. I did a bit of reading around the time they were switching over, as I bought a second monitor (for the RV; already have a 600 in the boat) just about that time. From what gleaned, anyone who has the 600 series can convert to the 700 by just getting the new gauge (face); the rest of the system remains compatible (shunt, wiring, etc.).

Here is a link to the manual for the 700-series monitors:

I decided the (clearance-priced) 600 would suit my needs (hey, it's only the RV, not the boat :D), but some of the changes are these:

1) During setup you get scrolling text describing parameters in regular words, vs. "H-1" or something like that where you have to look up what that is.

2) Readout now has "watts" in addition to the other values.

3) There is a SOC "gas gauge" bar always on screen (i.e. when you are looking at values other than SOC).

4) New history value: Total kwh charged and discharged.

5) The "02" model (702) has a choice of three things to measure on the second bank, vs. just voltage (now one of two voltage readings or battery temperature, which requires optional temp sensor attachment).

6) Interface with Victron Remote via Internet (I didn't really seek to understand this function).

Here is a blog post that covers it all in greater detail:

Seems like a great deal since they are only about $15 than the (non-clearance-priced) 600's were (they say same price, but I see them at about $164 and the 600 when it was current was around $149; still seems like a great deal to me for what it gives you).

PS: I see that the 600 manual was somehow uploaded as an always-available-here .pdf. Let me see if I can figure out how to do that for this manual.

Edit: Okay, I tried using the "Add an Attachment" function below, but it came back with a message of something like "Sorry but you have already used your 5mb upload quota." Maybe I'll try again later. Meantime, there is the link above.

I think the problem is that it is 8.6 mb (the limit seems to be 5mb for an upload to this forum). I'll see if I can reduce it and try again.

Okay, I think I have saved just the English language portion, which is a smaller file (the link in my post above should still go to the multi-language original).

I just installed the Victron 700, bought it from Microtech in Ferndale, WA, just a few miles away, $158, and the guy made me several more short cables, a black one to go from the battery to the shunt, and red and black jumpers to wire the two house batteries in parallel. The only setup I had to do was to tell the Victron the amp hours instead of its default, which is 200 (see other thread, I think my two batteries have 133 amp hours). Did I miss some necessary setup step?
