Our Weekend Cruise!

Another postscript...while we were pulling out Monday morning, Garry and Vicki went on to Kirkland, where they got hammered by 30 knot winds, a very unpleasant experience. But by evening things quieted down, and the next day they got their boat serviced on Lake Union, and were able to retrieve at Magnuson Park, but like us, had additional issues due to the low lake levels and shallow water at the Magnuson Park ramp.
 
Pat is your new truck a 4x4? if not low range at the ramp always works for me. Just give enough gas to move the truck and if it spins just back off a little.

Funny that you are talking about the lake being low. I just looked up the lake level. The lake only fluctuates by less then 2 ft during the year over the last 30 years. right now its only down 1' 10" from max. I guess if its a shallow ramp that could be a lot.
 
Yes, it's a 4x4, 2H, 4H and 4L, Allision automatic with 6 speed clutchless manual. Don't know how much the lake fluctates, water was definitely low compared to our past outings, I take Baxter to shore in the dinghy, and there are usually only a couple of areas along Seward Park where I can land him, this past weekend, there were lots of little sandy beaches all along the shore.

The problem at Maguson, which I like a lot for its location, was that I had to back the truck much farther down into the water than I like to get the stern floating so we could center it between the goal posts. We use a spacer made from two flat fenders that is jut right for centering. It was not a problem, since the truck is on an airlift, but Patty was worried, she thought the tailpipe was too close to the water. Maybe it was, since I could not see from the cab. It just may be that it is a shallow ramp, but I had never heard that before.
