Opinions on this trailer (for a 22-cruiser)

I noticed two things:

It is a painted steel trailer and they don't have a very long life when used in salt water.

The trailer bunks look like they are set for a vee bottom boat. The bunks will probably have to be reset for a C-Dory.

That trailer is custom fit for the boat it was sold with. You will need to re do the bunk supports for the C-Dory's flatter hull.

As mentioned, it will have a life of about five years in salt water.

Hard to tell with the pics, but I either don't see lights or - if that crushed thing on the aft-left corner is a light - it's doing to need that as well.

It looks like there's a spare tire, but no carrier. The winch also looks small. Then there's the "feature" of twin axles - with a trailer with this many issues, that's going to be twice as expensive to make and keep operational.

Another feature to look for is something to step on to get yourself up into the boat - I don't think this trailer would support a person.

I agree, this would not be a good trailer for a C Dory 22. Painted will not last long. The trailer has the welded "V" set for a specific boat--and it will be difficult to set the bunks correctly for the C Dory. You don't know what shape the hubs are in--lights seem to be missing...no tongue jack,

I think you can do better with a galvanized trailer with flat or nearly flat cross bars.

I used a galvanized karavan trailer for a 21ft-22ft bayliner or searay boat I got it from a bayliner dealer from someone that did not want the trailer . I modified it for under $100 to accept a c-dory in fact I used it to pick up my cc-23 you can see the single axcel trailer under jennykatz photos. I sold that trailer with my c-22 cruiser I ended up buying new tandem axcel trailer since I could not get that size trailer from dealer since most bigger boats do not come standard with trailer

Call around to some of the dealers and ask are there any trailers that some of the people living on lakes do not want . You will be surprized most brunswick smaller boats come with trailers so call around .
