Hi, yes this is late notice but I need a day on the water and tomorrow is the only time I have off this week. I want to leave everett at 10am. I can seat two. if anyone is interested post back here tonight.

on edit; or just show at the ramp in the morning.

This trip has been called off due to weather. Seattle bouy is showing 18 kts right now. gusting higher out of the south, which is headed right to where I wanted to fish. Oh well.

Wise move Tom. S. end of Whidbey is 20+ with gusts to 30. Not real bad but very variable and a lot of liquid sunshine to cheer you up :-)

what weather station did you use to get that wind info. i have not found a good place for info on the south tip of whidbey. I played hooky form work and when gun shopping instead. Test fired a few at the local range but have not picked out one yet.

Tom,
I tend to use a variety of weather sites as they all seem to have their peculiarities.

Try this one:-
http://www.mutinybayweather.com/

I have found it to be a good indicator for the Admiralty inlet area down to Posession. It is very sensitive to S winds but less so to others.

If you scroll to the bottom of the site you will find others. Experiment a bit and by comparison and personal experience you will find which suit your needs,

The Weather Underground main site also has these stations listed and you can call them up on one of the layers.

I also use the NOAA buoys/stations at Point Wilson and Smith Island for local stuff and even the WSDOT Ferry weather is a good indication.

.... and when all else fails, I stick my head out the window and take a look

Merv, I use your last method to check all kinds of weather! If I get a snootful of water, it always means it's raining.

And I've never drowned! I'm sure someone's gonna say I'm a turkey anyway! :cry

Charlie

Too bad about your trip Tom, maybe this weekend?

Charlie,

Where we live on Whidbey we are just within the famous Olympic rain shadow
so we laugh about the famous Blue Hole that appears above us when the rest of the PNW is getting P'd upon so I really need a network of stations to tell me about the outside world.

Right now the site I quoted is showing a steady 30 Kts with gusts to 42 and looking out my window I can see 3 -4 footers about 1 boat length apart and that is with a fetch of less than 1/2 mile so I don't think Tom wants to go today either :-)
We also have a big tide today (about 12 ft) which is fortunately ebbing with the wind right now.

'tis the season.

Merv

Merv, nice site. I have used wondermap before but had not noticed the useless bay and mutiny bay weather stations. The closest NOAA buoy is West point off of Seattle but thats a little far for a good number. Mutiny bay is a lot closer for Possession.
