Oil Pressure

Yesterday coming back from Echo Bay to I noticed that the oil pressure gauge had suddenly dropped to almost zero (I check the gauges often). There was no noticeable difference in the sound or performance of the motor (Suzuki DF 70). I didn't have far to go so I slowed way down and went on it with fingers crossed. After the engine cooled down (wasn't any warmer than normal) I checked the oil level and it was full.

Any ideas on what else I should check?
Thanks

Is that oil pressure or fuel pressure? On the Honda, all you see is the fuel pressure.

Did a red light come on? I'm sure that motor has a low oil pressure cut out and warning light.

I have to admit I am not sure...I just assumed it was oil pressure but now that you mention it...it did happen around the same time we switched fuel tanks. I thought was just a coincidence but maybe it is fuel pressure. The red light did not come on.

Thanks.

I'd ask the dealer what that Suzuki gauge means. I had to look up my gauge in the Honda repair manual to find out what it indicated. Don't know the significance of having a gauge for the fuel pressure between the low pressure pump and the high pressure pump. Willing to listen to explanations.

Also ask the dealer if the engine will shut down if it loses oil pressure, or read the manual. It should shut down and sound an alarm.
