Oil Alarm Light

We have a 2005 C Dory cruiser that we purchased from Jeff Mesmer new. It has about 475 hours on the 90 hp Suzuki. It has been maintained regularly at the shops at the Twin Bridges marina.
After a trip across Rosario and a short trip from Center Island to Lopez, the oil indicator light on the helm started flashing. This was after sitting at the dock for 2-3 hours. I checked the oil in the engine and the level on the dipstick was OK.
How much faith do I put in the indicator light after verifying there is oil in the engine?
We had planned on heading back across on Monday but with this I wonder if I should get a tow.
Another lesson.......be sure to take your user ID and password with you as I had to rejoin to ask this question.
Advise or information would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Is it by any chance your reminder on 100 hour service? I had it happen while in my second season on a 90 Yamaha. Engine was coming up to 120 hours. 20 hour check was done and then we were going along next season and this oil light started to flash. Pulling out the manual it showed that the light comes on at 100 hours since last reset by the mechanic when maintenance done. Something like pressing mode button for 5 seconds and reset turned it off. then scheduled my service Yours may be similar George

I think it will be the service reminder timer, as mentioned above. Ours does the same based on 200 hrs of engine use. The first time it came on we were in the San Juans and I went into panic mode. Shut the engine down etc. Then I quickly read the manual and my panic was for nothing.

Where is the mode button?
There is none on our Suzuki. You need to re-set the timer by turning on the ignition (not starting the engine) and removing the red kill switch spacer a certain number of times. This re-sets the hours to "zero" and it starts the count again. Look in your manual as it may be different.

Its probably your oil change reminder, comes on at 20, 100, 200, etc... If no alarms went off then that is what it is. Turn you key on, not the motor, remove the kill switch key, pull the switch out three times, you should hear an audible beep and the light will go off. If you have a Zuke tach, when you go to start the motor before cranking it, your alarms will sounds to make sure they are working, then your tach will shoot up, this will tell you the hours on the motor, 2000rpm = 200 hours, 1000rpm = 100 hours
:thup

Thanks to George, Localboy and cbgale.......it worked as described.

Like Localboy, I was in panic mode.

Now I can enjoy the rest of the weekend and the Seahawks victory.

Thanks again..........
