Yep - I heard the same thing yesterday on the radio. Of course I was thinking that B~C's previously smelt gathering activities were directly to blame. :wink: Hopefully, he still has some in the freezer and I'll be able to clone them from the stored DNA when the last ones in the wild are gone.

I saw that little piece of news & unfortunately I have no smelt layed away and I haven't had a crop of smelt dipping maniac students since that one year.....the runs have been dismal since that year, maybe listing them as endangered would be in order.

The price of good sturgeon bait is going to go through the roof, with economy doing what is & the large number of folks getting laid off around here, I would like to propose to the Pres. the BBBBBA, or, Bait Bailout Budget Buster Bill Act. This would be an additional fund in addition to unemployment to help defray the increased cost of bait......damn, I hope I have a job next month
