Ocean Sport boats?

Since I'm severely addicted to browsing boats on YachtWorld I always come across new builders and brands. Lol

I saw these Ocean Sport's and then digged a little deeper. Interesting boat. PNW rig with several different sizes and engine configurations. This one is a 30 footer with twin Volvos...WAY too much motor for my likin but probably good for offshore anglers. The cabin reminds me of a C Dory! Dinette to port and galley to starboard!

What's the deal with this brand?

They're amazing boats. Family owned company that builds these in a small factory on Camano island Washington. I've seen a number of these up in the San Juan islands. They have a booth most years at the Seattle boat show and they are usually the belle of the ball there, along with the Nordic tug. We were staying on our c-dory in Friday Harbor one evening, and I saw one of the larger ocean sports coming in. Thought a boat that size might need a hand docking so I ran over there to lend a hand. The owner stepped off the boat onto the dock with a little remote and easily docked the vessel using his bow thrusters. It was impressive. I talked with him about the boat a little bit, and was impressed with what he said, as well as the boats ability to consume fuel!

Big money boats that I've never had the opportunity to seriously consider but they do appear to be really well made. Id like to have one down here in the south for going to the gulfstream. One can dream
 
Paul, there is a slight update this year regarding the builders of these boats. Ocean Sports are now made by Nordic Tugs in Burlington and sold by IMC on Lopez, whereas the Camano Island Lindell factory is now making a larger and even more luxurious line called Lindell Yachts. To me the two brands look nearly identical, with the Lindells being larger. You can read some of the recent history on the Lindell page below, in the "About Us" page, and the current Ocean Sport line on the IMC page below:

There is a barn full of the Ocean Sports at Twin Bridges. Or at least there was earlier this year when I took the photo...

Thanks for the update. We've been moved off Camano Island for almost two years now. The Lindell is even more luxurious?!! Wow that must be something, I cant imagine. Their original ocean sport was gorgeous and really expensive.
 
Thanks for the info guys! I love the lines of the boat. So far in my short boating career I've been impressed with my PNW boats! Once I make my next leap in a few years I'll more than likely continue the trend. No shortage of good options up there.
 
Jason, They are B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Absolutely.

Teak and holly, mirror stainless and substantial, and gorgeous. And did I say BEAUTIFUL, Ahhhh and I mean expen$ive, but oh so capable.

I first met the owner/builder partner at IMC (Island Marine Company) at Fishermans Bay on Lopez Island about 12 years ago. His name was Ron Eng, and you couldn't find a nicer, kinder more knowledgeable person, (Well, except our own Bob Austin here), but long story short, I got to see a bunch of the boats that weekend and he knew I wasn't going to be buying one, but he introduced them as if he was introducing his grand kids. Multiple power choices, absolutely capable of any PNW water and fancy enough to make the spousal unit drool. I always hoped that if I put enough water on my C-Dory it would grow up to be an Ocean Sport 33. :lol: I'm still working on that :wink:

At the time I met Ron he was a dealer for both Ocean Sport and Sea Sport. As you can see from the pix, the C-Dory is pretty small compared to his line up.

Nice pic Harvey. That looks like a piece of art. What are the actual specs of that 33 Ocean? Beam? Is the 30' Roamer actually called the 33??

I don't know the specs, but there is a 30 and a 33 Roamer. Yup, they are each a fine art piece.

So very true! The Seattle Boat Show is THE destination for those who appreciate cabin-type boats.

Jason, "too"? Well, OK then, but no Ocean Sports at that one.

IF you come to Seattle, IMC says they will provide free Boat Show tickets to you and they will show you through any/all of their boats you want to see. I just called (their number is on the web site I linked) and they are a super nice bunch of folks there.

OH the beam:

on the Legacy (26 x 9'6") and on the Ocean Roamer 30 and 33 is 10'6". The 30 and 33 are the same boat but with a 3 foot extension in the cockpit section. Volvo is the most common power and available in single or twin.
