Oar Locks

I have what appears to be oar locks on my boat. They are positioned a couple of feet aft of the cabin bulkhead and mounted on the inner facing side of each gunnel. Would they be oar locks or some kind of older model rod holder.Tug

Almost certainly rod holders. Most likely these from Scotty but a bunch of manufacturers make similar mounts. Do they look like this?

Tug, picture woulda helped. You talking about these in your album, through the window on the LHS of the photo? It's a bracket for something, maybe a bimini support or something. Certainly not an oarlock. I'd ask the previous owner if he installed them and what they were for.

They are made of bronze i think, they are not like any rod holders i have ever seen. I will take a picture and post it in my album. Thanks Tug

Thats the one i had in mind....was thinking of drilling it out to accept a holder holder but it is hard to drill. I will email the previous owner to find out what is was meant for. Thanks Tug

Charlie ...they look like oar locks to me....they have a four or six sided ( opening ) receiver and a small opening on the side which accepts a locking screw.Anyway i will posted a clearer picture. Tug

If they have hexagonal receivers, I'm still betting they are for rod holders or something similar that one wants to place at just a few different angles. I have also seen some similar devices that were installed to hold arms with pulleys on them for pulling pots. Maybe they're for that.

I think they are Tempo pole holders. I have a couple, but no mounts. If you think they'll work, you can have them for shipping. They are slightly under 5/8" hex. Ron
