Thanks Barry,

Since I grew up there, I have always been cognisant of the July l holiday. July l, l958, I was on the stone rail facing the Parliament buildings in Victoria, when Queen Elizabeth came to visit for the BC centennial celebration. She walked across/along the walkway there, less than 5 feet from me. Not sure, but I don't think I have washed my eyes since then.

Hope you all had a safe and happy Dominion Day.

We were watching the Victoria/Oak Bay area for fireworks last night and saw none! What's up with that? I recall seeing them in years past from our perch across the Straits.

Roger, The Victoria fireworks were on at 10:20 last night in the inner harbour. The less costly ones don't go up as high. I think that local businesses have to cough up money every year to make the fireworks happen. Sign of the times...

The show was good from downtown except for the drunks.

We were on the US-Manitoba border and no cell to send our celebrations. Bill is a quarter Canadian and that part always kicks up on July 1st. Two birthday parties for two great nations only a few days apart - wow!

I can beat that! Ruth proved I am HALF Canadian! No only that, July 1 is also my Canadian Dad's birthday as well!
