Gate crasher, indeed. But vertical bars don't stop us. We're built narrow, curious and sovereign, with four on the floor.
Once breached, the fortress offered little resistance, save the distraction of a few blue marbles (my favorite), and two fresh catnip mice intended to placate indolent Butterball, the torpid tabby watch cat.
I was just down the street at another party, and figured the event was well over or hours away. I'll simply drop in and wish the bride and groom well, say hi to Pat and Patty, then migrate quickly back to my mew. And don't you know, right then the ceremony began. Yikes! I better high-tail it outta here. Just then a nice young woman escorted me and an actual guest to a bench on the periphery.
I stayed quiet and kept my ears and whiskers low. Tail, too.
It was a lovely wedding. The bride was beautiful, the groom princely. Pat and Patty sang and strummed The Circle song--a most emotional melody. I maintained my composure, even when white doves (another favorite) were strategically released, symbolizing peace and love.
Now ready to surreptitiously retrace my prints in retreat, I was unmasked by a pretty C-Brat. Gig's up. Kate, David, Bill and El, really super to see and talk to you. Pat and Patty, thank you for your kindness. You both looked marvelous. Special folks, all.
Say, I wonder where there's another party to crash...
