New TomCat 25

Brent & Dixie: Great news!! Will be tracking you for sure. Look forward to seeing the size of the roller they send, and think I will get one of the same for FreeByrd right away. Have thousands of tow miles on her and never have had the metal-to fiberglass...but sure have sweeted bullets. They say a large percentage of what we worry about never happens...but I like the larger roller idea....and might even get that Non-Black one as to keep that awful looking "Nose Rub" look each time we launch and retrieve.

Ordering parts now to fix up the 18Angler trailer......and might just cancel some airline tickets around Christmas and drag the 18 over. Have an email request into Jeff for a call back. May bring the 18 to the factory for some clean up work. We have great fiberglass workers about 10 minutes from the house....but, on THIS boat, I think I would like the true hands of those who know and love C-Dory boats doing the re-work. But, these guys get plenty of work on bass boats going 80 hitting things....and the sea do crowds hitting each other... It is a shame the bass boats and sea dos don't have a compitition some weekend....the lake would be much quiter the next. :embarrased

Getting great vicarious enjoyment from this thead! Just a note for us east coasters: Cutter Marine in Baltimore area tells me that they hope to receive a TomCat 25 in January in time for the Baltimore boat show. Am looking forward to seeing one in person.
 
John -- thanks for the info. We sure enjoyed our week on Lake Winnepesaukee this summer and our visit to Y-Landing!

Attention: TC255 Observers

More pictures have been posted in the album.

Things are moving along well, with the dash and watermaker nearly finished. Aft steering was very tight, but Les and his team got it in. The Xantrex MS 2000 inverter replaces the factory unit, with the monitor placed under the dash on the left.

Still to come: Steering, battery w/switches, arch, radar, pivoting light post on arch.

The best part of this was learning how to post pictures myself! Now I can remove my training wheels.

Joystick Steering:

It's a Raymarine option designed for remote placement on flying bridges and adapted by Les at EQ to stern steering. It is connected to the hydraulics of the autopilot and turns the engines in the direction of the toggle. That, combined with the Teledyne Morse engine control linked to the forward helm control allows me to stand in that pocket to place a stern anchor or back down on divers in the water. Controls are sturdy and protected somewhat by the rail. If it isn't enough, I'll add more stainless cage.

That is so cool! I may have to rethink the way I was going to do the rear helm station! That joystick takes up such a small amount of room that it would be much easier to locate than the steering wheel. I already have the second throttle Lever setup and hydraulic steering so I would just have to add the joystick and autopilot. Hmmm.
 
Home Sweet Home!

After waiting 6 months, I finally got a 30' slip for Dive Cat. Marina Del Rey has had a lot of dock replacement/refurbishment going on over the last couple of years, along with seveal of the marinas in nearby Long Beach. This has caused a huge shortage of slips for the 30-50' range boats. Dealers are suffering, and many dockmasters are not allowing slips to be transferred with used boat sales.

Brand new causeway and pier, in the first basin from the harbor entrance and closest to the gas dock. I'll do the bottom maintenance myself. The causeway extends from the gate to T in to the floating pier that runs parallel with the basin. All 30 footers on the inside next to the wall, all 50-70 on the outside. Probably holds 100 total. Ready by Jan 1.

Smart move on the behalf of the dockmasters- stops continual "aging of the fleet" with tranfer of slips to new owners and the gradual downgrading of the marina with older boats, some of which aren't maintined well. Joe.
 
Congratulations on the slip. I had heard that there were going to be less 20 and 25 foot slips in both Long Beach and Marina Del Rey.

Any solid word when the new boat will be "home"

My standard answer for delivery is "3-4 weeks" because I really don't know. A lot of stuff is being done to Dive Cat that hasn't been done before. When I put the compressor in the transom it caused the batteries to be displaced to a new home and very tight specs for other things. Les and his team at EQ are working with some unique challenges and do better without pressure from me.

She'll be ready when Les is ready to put his name and reputation on the work. That's good enough for me.

So you're going to keep her in MdR. It sounds like you're right across from the park, which should be a nice place to visit and see what Dive Cat looks like. Just out of nosieness, what are the new slips in MdR going for (/ft)? I know in San Pedro they're trying to rebuild slips, and I've often wondered what the price would be after the rebuild.

An honest question deserves an honest answer: $15.00/ft overall

I had always thought Dive Cat's coming out party would be at Burton Chase Park. It will be pretty easy to get a slip there in January! The BQ pits are nearby, power for a little music, fairly close to the marina entrance. Stay tuned for the official date.

Until I got the slip, I was going to keep her on the trailer across the street. The problem is they don't open until 0700 and close at 1900. So, she would have been parked for many hours in the launch ramp parking. Having the slip allows me to come and go when I want, still take her out for fuel and trailering to San Diego or Santa Barbara or . . . . . .

Pleased to announce that Dive Cat will make a sneak preview at the SBS, representing the TC255 in the C-Dory display.

Les will still need time after the show to complete his work, so she'll be in SoCal near the end of January. No problem.

Ironically, I'll be one of the last to see her at the show if it runs 6-14. Please make yourselves at home and welcome aboard!
