New to me 22' Angler

I recently sold three 1966 Fiat 1500 Cabriolets to a buyer in New Zealand. I have owned these cars for 10 years, and had the intention of restoring them, but life happens. Then I sold my 2002 Tracker Targa 17' fishing boat. I never really did develop a feeling for this boat. It was a modified "V" and was slow to get on a plane, and it didn't have a feel that I was comfortable with on the water.

I used to have a CD 22' Angler, a 1984 model that I sold when we bought the 2003 TomCat 24'. I regretted selling that boat as soon as the deal was done, but it helped finance the TomCat 24', which later developed into the TC 255 we currently have. This is a long story that some C-Brats are familiar with.

Dixie said "What are you going to do with the money from the sale of the cars and the Tracker. It's mad Money to do whatever you want with. I said "I wish I could find a 22' Angler to use as a fishing boat".

Long story short, on Wednesday I'm turning the ripe old age of 66 and we are picking up a 2006 CD 22' Angler. What a birthday?! This deal just came together over a couple of days. I found it, (not on the C-Brats) and made an offer and they agreed.

2006 CD 22' Angler. Blue trim.
Hydraulic steering, front and rear.
Cockpit helm.
Trim tabs.
Garmin 3006C chart plotter with sounder module.
2006 eTec 90 Hp.
2006 Honda 8 HP.
Uniden VHF Radio.
Power Winch 450 Sport with chain/rode.
2006 Pacific dual axle trailer.

Sounds like you'll have the best of both worlds now - the TC 255 and "back to your roots" with the Angler. Fun! Congrats on finding such a nice birthday present :)

:cake Happy Birthday!!! Nice present, enjoy. I'm gonna go look in my shop see what I can turn into cash! Oh yeah, downsized...no shop on the boat. Hey I'll look in the boat. :thup George

Thanks all for the birthday well wishes.

Here is a link to some pics. Yes it's a nice boat that has some warts to correct. There are three or more, deep gouges in the gelcoat, clear to the roving, and scuffs where it met the dock a few times. It was a working boat, aquatic plant surveys and bottom profiles of the Sacramento Delta for three years, then retired to storage until recently.

1528 miles to get here, and tomorrow we start driving again to go home.

What else do you do when your retired?

Any recommendation for a boat name?

Yes, I think we will be over length by a few feet with the motorhome.

George,

Dixie say's we'll keep it under consideration. Any more ideas? This naming boats is a challenge. Remember if it sounds stupid when repeated three times on the VHF, then maybe it's not a good name. Our first TomCat was named "Cygnet", or a baby Swan. Looked just like the TomCat 24', but say it three times fast and someone comes back on the radio, "what was Sickness calling about"?

Hi Brent,

I liked the name "Bum Squeaker". That's the feeling you get when you are going like a rocket up on plane. Alas, the missus said NO !

Martin.

Happy Birthday and great looking boat...i really like that second helm. If you ever get the chance or time could you post some close up pictures of the helm and the steering connectors/ helm console manufacture..etc.

My next project ! Tug

Boat Name Discovery II

We arrived home this afternoon. Long trip 3100 miles over 6 days. The motorhome is the way to travel if you need to cover ground in comfort. Didn't even know the 22 Angler was back there most of the time. Even got Dixie to do some of the driving across Missouri and Kansas. Maybe a little slower up the grades over the hump from Denver to Utah. Glad we came today. There were signs posted at the Eisenhower tunnel that there would be 2.5 hour delays on the 3rd and 4th, due to Labor Day traffic.

The Angler is now parked in the garage next to the TomCat.

Kevin,

It's a 2006, so not as flat bottomed as the Classics. There were a number of the Classics for sale, but I found this 2006 for about the same price on Boat Trader. I had previously owned an 84 Angler and was looking to try the newer hull design.

Tug,

I will try to get some info on the rear helm and post it here.

Charlie,

The garage is 50' x 100'. 4 bays with 16'W x 14'H doors.

Maybe name it something fishing related. Such as, The Minnow, Cast Away, a name of a fish, etc. Do you have a favorite fishing song? Use that...
I like something personal. Our boats have carried names from our wedding, or sons nick name. I am going to name our next after my wife, Wonderful.
