Thanks
Duff

Congratulations, I looked at them on online and thought they looked like a great boat. What kind of power? I hope you enjoy the inland passage.

It has the 150 Suzuki. I couldn't find alot of info on the seaway 25 since Harry Farmer sold out to Eastern Boats. I took it out on lake Ponderay in Idaho and i like the way it runs. This is My first Suzuki I didn't know a lot about them but I guess there a good motor?

Nice boat :D , looked pretty close at them, as Laurie and I are about to pull the trigger on a new (used) boat. Not too many used ones out there and a new one was not in the budget. Congrats and look forward to hearing how it works for you.

Nice looking boat. I have always admire them. when are you headed this way and where are you starting from. i would love to come see the boat if the timing worked out.

ya i like the boat pretty well has good equipment on it some of the finish glass work on the inside could be better but over all i like it. I think we are taking off from Bellingham the middle of July. the boat rides really well and i love the fuel economy runs really smooth at 18 to 22 knots nice dry ride so we will keep you posted as i run it more. taking it to Flathead lake next for couple days.[/b]

Looks a lot like the Rossborough. Congrats on the new boat - hope you enjoy your time on the water. The Suzuki is a good motor.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

thanks I'm Glad to here that about the Suzuki I was a little nervous about the all composite material there is no wood in the boat except the trim but is the boat as strong with a all composite hull? do the composites hold the hard ware as well as wood any thoughts would be welcome

Hasn't someone posted this brand of boat before? I remember commenting on how it resembled Merv & Kathy's boat (Rosborough), as Jim noted. And we love our Suzuki 150. Quiet, dependable and so far, 100% trouble free.

There were a couple of threads about this boat. One I started called Interesting boat. and another called Seaway Coastal Cruiser Downeast 25??? by Hank Schneider. Go to home page and do a search you should see the threads. The Suzuki motors use a little different gearinng letting them swing better props. Plenty of folks here speak well of them, can't be bad. Enjoy the boat. :D

Hi Doug,

Looks like a great boat for the Inside Passage or Lake Powell.

How far north do you plan to go this year?

New Moon should be on the road toward Prince Rupert in a few days, probably heading though Thompson Falls early next week.

if someone is looking to purchase a boat like that, they should first call "BYRDMAN" . i spoke with byrdman last week, he has a new rossborough, like the one posted here, for sale, at an unbelievable price!

YA the rossi is a nice boat too. I looked at a couple of them. before i bought the seaway, the combination of the head being up with a shower as well as only needing 150 hp to push it 33 knots made me decide on the Seaway the fuel economy is very good Had I know about Byrdman's boat i would have considered it.

Duff,
The Seaway site says Coastal Cruiser 24 is your boat a 25 or a 24. I'm guessing the rear of the hull is pretty flat. The spec's show a 14" draft. Our C-Dory 23 has a 150 Yamaha and will run 40 mph :) loaded fairly heavy for cruising. We usually travel with 22" cruisers and normally run 15 to 20 mph. Running by ourselves we will run a little closer to 25mph cruising in open water. I'm guessing the speeds you quoted are with the boat loaded fairly light. How much fuel does she hold?

Ya its a hard chine the down east hull is really designed to cruise at more the 18 to 22 Knots but it will run up to 30 if you need to. The tests say it burns 1/2 gallon and hour at 6 knots and 5.2/h at 18 knots and 5.7 gallons/h at 21 knots that's four men and 1/4 fuel i don't know how realistic that is haven't been able to check it yet. it has an 80 Gallon tank I'm sure those number came under perfect conditions. However compared to my express cruiser with a 320 hp small block Volvo they are really really nice. this boat claim to fame is the way it handles chop at speed, its more work in a following sea.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it does crossing the Straite's of Georgia and Johnstone straite

Here are some more pictures of the Seaway 25: just got the kicker motor put on today next is a wallas 1300 heater any thought on that. and a radar on the garmin 5208 plotter
