New Port of call in Desolation Sound

On our recent trip to Desolation after leaving Wildernest lodge (which we can thoroughly recommend) we noticed a new and impressive structure on the East side of Homfrey Channel.
A little googling found out it is a new(relatively) lodge offering land and dock accommodation.

Follwing text is from an e-mail conversation with the owners. Looks like it might be a good spot for an overnigh stop and meeting place.

"Sorry we missed you last week. We've just opened recently so we haven't managed to get much promotional info out there just yet. We're counting on allot of word of mouth for this season so if you could pass on our info to your boating pals that would be great...maybe we'll get a chance to see you later in the year.

As far as food, we're not planning to open a restaurant however we will have a small grocery store open for next season. The cabins are self contained with kitchenettes and the rooms have access to a common cookhouse, there's also a large bbq deck for communal cooking. So it's basically look after yourself for meals. If you were to bring in a group we could arrange for a cook or a caterer.

We don't have cell service but working on that and may have phone service soon...we're always on 66a if you're in the area or pop us an email with an eta. The best a most current info is on our web site and facebook page...this would be your best bet for updates and info.

Hope to see you on your next trip.

Cheers

Scott

Good info, maybe I should put this on the "heard at the dock thread". I was up there about 4 years ago in that area. That Homfrey place was under construction. A guy at the Wildernest dock said he thought it was going to be an Alaska style hunting lodge, where you board a boat and shoot bears from the water. He deemed it very unsporting. lol. look what it really became!

It looks a really nice place. But for a couple, I would not use the accomodation, that is what we have a C-Dory for. The dock says up to 20' included. Probably local run-abouts but not catering to larger boats visiting for a overnighter and in search of gas and water.

If you are familiar with ActiveCaptain, it might be interesting to make entries for both Wildernest and Homfray Lodge.

I didn't see any listings/reviews for either place, but the more I use AC the more I like it.

Best,
Casey

In answer to Martin's question, here is an earlier reply we received from Homfray lodge:-

"We now have 250' of moorage available fro transient boaters @ $1.25/ft/day...no room required. We're pet friendly as long as you're respectful of other guests, have appropriate blankets or bedding and pick up/clean up after your dog."

So it is really more like Wildernest. Either one would be a great idea if you have friends who wanted to share day trips in the area and you don't have enough room on the boat.

Thanks Kingfisher. Now my ears have perked up. Nice to know there is another dock destination that welcomes visiting boaters.
