Hi, I am new to this forum. I purchased (yesterday) a 2004 19 angler c-dory. I discovered a gallon and a half of water in the v berth storage compartment. I have not found a source for the leak. Has anyone else had this problem?
 
Here's the official protocol for this manufacturing defect:

1. Read the thread noted by Alma's Only. If you chose to and can, fix it yourself. If not,

2. Contact your dealer, if you have a dealer. If you don't,

3. Call this guy

Thank you for the information. Its a good starting point. I'm new to this world of boating, and for me, this is a dream come true. Can't wait to get her in the water, but it will be awhile yet.

Welcome aboard!

If you will be fishing out of Crescent City Or Brookings Harbor or Gold Beach next summer you won't be alone. There are several C-Dorys fishing out of there but we (the Loose Nut) are the only other 19 around unless somebody else snuck in when I wasn't looking.

Give us a yell when you see us, and we will do the same. Looking forward to next season - good luck getting your boat dried out

Funny you should post this...I am dealing with the exact problem on my 19. I have been following the suggested protocol. So far the dealer thinks it may be either a poorly implemented anchor locker drain or leaking through the rub rails. I tried to contact the factory to get some insight and got what is apparently the expected response.

If you are like me, you probably were less than thrilled to see water in your new boat! I'll let you know what the latest theory is on the water when I speak with them today.
 
Quick update on the water problem I have on my 2007 boat. The dealer reports that the leak is indeed coming through the anchor locker drain just and the other thread suggests.

Since this spans several model years, it sounds as if the feedback loop with the factory is working well and they are on top of the problem.
 
I looked for my source yesterday.All 5 insp. plugs pulled. No dampness in flotation foam.Many old high water stains.Sampling revealed salt water in v storage.Tasted like hell so I didnt drink it all.I may die.Looking forward in v storage comp. I saw leak stains coming down both sides for 12 to 14 inches starting at forwardmost point.I guess thats under chain locker.anchor chain comp. is clean,dry with no signs of moisture, drain hole open.I saw light thru drain hole.I would be dissapointed if it drained into a storage comp. Im sure ill find it once were in the water, so Im not too worried about it.Living in sac. valley watching it rain.I wish I was in Hiouchi.I can smell the steelhead coming in the Smith. Perhaps Ill catch my first.

I appreciate your sense of humor. Regarding not drinking all the water you found under your v-berth... Bill recommends pouring in a bottle of vodka. A long straw may be necessary. :wink:

If you can see stains coming from the both sides forward, the problem may be the documented overdrilling of the screws in the stem guard.
 
Those darn "documents" will get you everytime... :shock:
