New owner - door lock question

I just purchased a 1988 22 Angler - took her out for the maiden voyage yesterday. A few things I want to fix:

1. The key does not work on the cabin door lock. Is there an easy way to replace this lock, or can it just be re-keyed?

2. I don't like how the electrical system wires/terminal blocks/fuses are all exposed on the backside of the helm (in the v-berth). Has anyone come up with a clever way to hide the clutter while still providing access when needed?

3. Has anyone installed a sink instead of the stove just aft of the helm seat? I figure I can always use a portable stove, but I don't know about a portable sink.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The newer CDs have a cover made out of sunbrella and a few snaps keep it in place. My boat is in the shop, once back if no one has posted a picture I'll do so. A good canvas shop should be able to do this. I had mine made, cost 75.
 
Charlie - thanks for the reply. I could not find anything on the lock. It is a deadbolt style with a knob on the inside.

Great suggestion on the sunbrella for the electrical cover - so simple!

The Cabin door lock on my 1990 22' cruiser was a off the shelf Perko part. Check with west marine or such.

If it is a Perko then West Marine can get the part....but going to Perko is just a dial away...they are very nice folks and easy to deal with...it is nice to work with someone who speeks English and knows what they are selling... I have a huge spotlight on my tug from the 1920.s and they still carry parts for it.....although I plan on converting it to some sort of modern high intensity bulb soon.. I bought a small Yamaha generator and that will power it....I want LIGHT... for night work with the tug.

do you have the key for the door lock and it just wont turn it? that was the case when i got my 89 dory. it had sat in storage for 14 years and all it needed was a little work and a little lube and it works fine now. may be thats all yours needs?
 
I restored a 1989, the latch was trashed, a new one was just over $120 from Perko.

You can remove the door and or latch and take it to a locksmith for repair, but it will not take long to excede the cost of a new one. Try a liberal dose of WD 40 first.


I removed the countertop and had it recovered in new formica. At that time you can decide what ever you want. I put a new RV sink to the far right near the aft bulkhead, a recessed small one burner stove and left the rest formica countertop.
