New Member- This is a great forum and I have enjoyed reading it for over a year. I purchased a new r-21 tug when I really had started to look for a CD-22. The tug is great on the St. Johns river but I see some problems as I am about to move up on the Tennessee river. Think we may need a little more room or facilities as we hit longer cruises. Was thinking of pushing a small barge but Bob Austin has about convinced me to modify what I have since I can't afford to trade up right now.( in a riverfront home building project at the present). Keep up the great forum and hit me if you have thoughts on my issue. Thanks Ron

Several years ago I saw a Ranger 21 with a full enclosure....lots of room back there...and for extended cruising it would be perfect... '
When I had my enclosure made for my 22 I had them go all the way back over the motors... makes the room much larger, I had curtains installed instead of plastic windows... cooler and easier to take care of....plus plenty of privacy. (not that I really care...but my wife does)

Ron, is your R21 an extended cabin model or Classic? That full enclosure canvas is available for the EC, but I'd like to find where one is available for the Classic.

Dave, Mine is a classic R-21. I purchased the boat with the mast and shade but later had a fiberglass top made for the cockpit. It is 70" wide and 100" long which extends back past the engine cover. Left the stern seat uncovered since my wife loves to sleep in the sun as we cruise the St. Johns river. Plan to have curtains made for the sides and back to enclose it all. The back curtain will slope like a camper back. Scott (was at Ranger) mentioned a company there that had made custom covers and enclosures for the 21's. John Livingston might give you the contact.

Ron,

Many years ago, in a boating publication called SMALL BOAT JOURNAL a boat designer by the name of McNaughton (I believe) designed a small tug boat and a househoat that could be towed with the tug boat. You now have the tug boat. Maybe you could find a copy of the article. If I find it , I will post it and send you a copy. Maybe somebody else will find it.

A House boat and a tug boat on the St John's river would be just great.

Just an idea.
