Hi,

New member here in the Bay Area. My Dad and I went partners on a 22' Cruiser last fall. We just finished getting her rigged with new electronics and electric downriggers and are ready to start chasing salmon, sturgeon, and stripers! When we first looked at the boat, I thought she was an old man's boat (my other boat is a hot rod lake boat). But the more time I spend on her, the more I love her. These are great boats! But you already knew that... :teeth

They are not fast, but you can learn to drive it such that you get the most
out of it. I had a great time coming up the Chesapeake at around 21-24mph
yesterday, without beating up the boat. A little wake surfing, flipping
the boat broadside and up and over wakes, etc. Lots of fun. Or, just
slow down and kick back. Either way. One fun point is the mpg is about
the same so long as the boat is planing reasonably. I suppose if you
start to seriously exceed the cruising RPM, mpg probably drops off. I
don't usually go over 4400 or so, which is less than the 85% max
rpm that I use as a rule of thumb for top cruising rpm.

Hi Chris and welcome, In '89 I had a Boston Whaler Montauk that was good for 47-48 m.p.h....standing up. Then I saw the 22' Cruiser at the Portland Boat Show. In one week I'd toured the factory, test ran a Cruiser, and ordered one of my own, Adeline. That'll be 19 years this July. Best move I've ever made. Now get yourself a photo-album (Mike or Bill can do that) so you can show us some of those salmon, sturgeon, and stripers you'll be catching.

Welcome to the pub, Chris. You brought up a very interesting perspective from a young man,
I thought she was an old man's boat
I never thought of C-Dory's looking like an old man's boat before, I guess that means I'm getting old! :wink

So am I! However, I'm used to driving an 80 MPH 19' jet boat with a tunnel-rammed 427 Chevy, two Holleys, and big chrome OT headers. :wink Thanks for the welcome, guys. Looking forward to learning more about these machines.

Chris --
You guys have a great boat for that fishing -- kinda hard to troll off your 80 mph jet boat -- so now you have the best of both worlds -- have fun with her, and welcome to the club.
