New comer intro and confession

Just found your site and I already had to lie to gain access :shock:. My zip code isn't really 12345 but we are Canadians and our real zip wasn't accepted :roll:.

I saw my first C-Dory at our own moorage basin and I was impressed at what appears to be a very dry and seaworthy vessel. The Admiral and I have been boating for 50+ years in the Pacific Northwest and Okanagan Valley. Until now we have been faithful Sea Ray owners, but as we approach retirement we need to think about getting into a boat that will be more suitable for extended cruising in the Puget Sound and Strait of Georgia. I think C-Dory has most of what we need; outboard power, hardtop, trailerable, and above all, they look to be fairly water tight. We love our Sea Ray but for extended boating in the PNW these sun bridge cruisers just don't seal out the weather properly. I'm rambling again :oops:

Lookin' forward to getting to know the site and learning more about the boats. Plan on making the trek to Vancouver and Seattle for the boat shows next year, just to see what the new ones look like even though we'll be purchasing used. Thanx in advance for a real cool forum,

Hey welcome lollygagging, good to have another BC Brat buddy.

Actually when I registered I left the postal code blank it is not a mandatory field. I think you can go back and edit your profile and leave that field blank.

I have a lady friend in Kelowna so plan to take by boat up there maybe this summer and definitely next summer.

I like you got interested in the C-Dory. I joined this site, read a lot of threads checked out the boats for sale and bought a 2006 last week.

You will get a wealth of knowledge here I know I have learned a lot and really enjoyed the people in a really short time.

Thanx for the welcome Rainger. I grew up in Victoria and moved to Kelowna in 1992 to follow a girl and a mini construction boom. Still here with the same girl but a different trade. Do get back to Vancouver whenever we can. Really miss the ocean. There's just something about these Okanagan girls, even though she WAS a transplant from the Island originally.

PM me if you get up here, I'd love to have a quick look at your boat. I've been wired to boats since I could walk. Sure wish I'd have known about the CD-25 before buying our current boat. We're jusy starting to see some "real" boats up here on the lake now. Saw a Nordic Tug fishing Rattle Snake Island last weekend. I was so excited I think the owner thought I was weird at first.

My lady friend is from Nova Scotia lived here for a while and then moved to Kelowna a year ago. I own a house with her there in the lower Mission area. Lots of room to keep the boat there when I am up to cruise the lake.
 
Lollygaggin, Welcome to the C-Brats, C-Dory's and a really cool group. There is a c-Dory up at the other end of the lake, sorry I didn't look up the name but they are there and also up at the "houseboat" lake. you will know where I mean.

I grew up on the (Vancouver) Island, and have friends up in the Okanogan. I get up there usually once a year, but have not brought my boat up there .... yet. Every time I'm there I think it would be a great idea.

The C-Dory is a wonderful cruising boat, dry, warm, sturdy and seaworthy. Besides that they look a/cool, b/cute, c/salty, d/seaworthy, e/coastal or f/all of the above. There biggest problem is getting through the fuel station with out getting stopped for some look see's.

Mine gets about 12 MPG at 60 miles per hour ---- yup, when it is on the trailer. And it loves to cruise at 5.5knots, quiet, comfy and economical.

This Site is an all you could ever want to know about C-Dory's place with a great group of folks, even sometimes called family. Lot's of help and camaraderie here.

Welcome and "aloha". I can tell you from what you have described, these boats will fit your needs to a "t". My "admiral" had zero boating experience when I "convinced" her how fun it would be. Now she loves it too! She only had three demands. No wet. No cold. A head. These boats can meet all three. You can enjoy the sun and breeze or batten down the hatches when need be. They are stable, solidly built and inexpensive to run (a relative comparison). They are not "go fasts"; they will pound as they have no deep "V". But we find just slowing down a little suits us fine, if the water requires it. Our average speed is 10 knots. But it's the journey too. I do not regret one iota our choice....
