New CD25 to hit road for East Coast

Outfish me? Good Grief, you could catch a cold and outfish me, me doesn't fish, might catch one, have to clean it and then eat it. Me eats cows and pigs and chickens but not stuff that has fins and swims. I make exceptions for shellfishies like lobsters and shrimps and stuff like that...

Art, let us know how sea trials went, it's pretty windy out there, should give you a pretty good workout...

Hi Ken, et all,

Yes Ken those boxes are a big cash distruct! Nickel here, nickel there, on & on & on.. WOW.

This week's sea trial had some minor issues, but they are being worked out.

At the factory the drain scupper tube from the motor well was cut too short and not flarred. I had the tube replaced locally as per CUTTER Marine & I will forward the paid bill to CD.

I am well pleased with the performance of the CD25 in rough waters. She is a nice dry boat AND my wife feels comfortable in her.

Worked all day today to install 2 fire ext's, boarding ladder and GARMIN 2006C with the GPS rcvr. Early TREAT for tomorrow. AND, the Garmin worked on the first try!

I think I need to have the engines fine tuned, engines' heights. I have a lot of lower unit spray at planing speeds. I think they may too low. I have to do some checking on the tech side of this site & C-DOGS.

Well, my vacation is ending and I am back to half work. Vacations are all "work" playing and traveling.

Happy Halloween/ All Saints Day/ All Hallows Eve....

Now I am confused :crook ... more than normal. Twin 90's? All I have heard from what I think I have read was the max power for a 25 was 150 HP. I kind of figured I'd rig my 25 with a Honda 4 stroke BF 115, leaving room for a swim platform and detachable ss dive ladder. The lesser weight on the stern would/should give a more efficient and level ride at below planing speed.
Could the weight of the engines on the stern be cause for some of the spray... don't know.. just asking. Do you have trim tabs?
How does it ride in the water at speeds under plaining speed with the twin 90's?

Guy's... I don't let this get around and it may be because of getting older, "As compared to rigging my "dream boat", I did not have this much trouble picking who I wanted to marry, and its lasted for almost 35 years".
OMG I am slipping!

You know with all the technology of today there should be a formula or algorythm to match the hull style, center of gravity with anticipated loading (this would shift with the choice of motor configuration), gross weight, density of water (salt versus fresh), prop configuration, and primary use speed (putzing versus blasting around).
Is there such an animal :?:

Please feel free to give me your 2 cents! And don't forget to vote on Tuesday... that's the only thing in life that's not taxed yet!

Hi Butch;
Yes, I can see why you would be confused. The web page does say max HP is 150HP; but, the factory guys and the glossy flyer CD hands out say the max is 180HP. This flyer also said there is 30 gal of water (which is correct, also), verses 20- gal on the web page.

With regards to the engine spray I talked to the rigger today and they agreed that the engines are too low. They will have to pull the boat back to their shop to reset the height with respect to the transom bottom and the ventilation plate.

I will be setting this CD25 up as a USCGAUX Facility. With that in mind, I went with the redundancy with 4-blade HONDA SS 15" pitch props. The 'go-fast' mode is not my norm. I like to putter and wanted the pulling power for when I have a vessel in tow.. If I need to have a fast SAR response, I have the power to do so.

Yes, this CD25 has trim tabs as a standard item that also automatically retract when the engine is turned off. This is a great feature for when you have your boat pulled for dry storage( I do) or placed on a trailer.

As to the ride, I am WELL PLEASED! I ran through some heavy wakes from several large, fast vessels without any problem and it remained a dry ride.

I looked at several other boats before I made my choice. Some were the Grady White, Parker, Rosborough and C-Hawk. None have the 'bang-for -the-buck' or the great use of space.

Hope I answered your questions..

Thank you! Have you seen the thread about the "leak" between the hull and deck in the area of the head? Take a peek... I'd love to get your feedback. Thanks again... Butch.

PS... you described my criteria for cruising to a "T". let me know how you make out on the fix.

Hi All;
Sea Angel has her name placed proudly on the cabin, today. When I can get some pixs together I will post the update.

I am having the radio gear installed this week[radar & VHF]. The hailer is partially installed. Ii just picked up the speaker.

The HONDAs should be repositioned by end of this or beginnig of next week.

Garmin seems to be having a run on their DSP20s [transducer I/F]. There appears to be about aother 5-6 week delay.

Great things are happening. Captain's Choice may have a visitor from the South, [VA Beach, VA.] during his next possible gathering..

I should note thatI have trouble getting a lot done at the marina when I have the boat on the work rack. I have had a lot of visitors wanting to check her out. The local fishermen here love the layout and several have asked where the dealership was. I can't help but feel a 'little' ego and pride swell up with our Sea Angel.

I must thank everyone in this fine group for all their patience and help. The choices I made were well supported and well received.
