Our brand new 25' C-Dory was delivered on Friday...we are very excited to get,out on the water. I know..Carson City, NV seems like an odd place for a C-Dory...but we are only 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe! We wanted to know if anyone can give us ideas on the following...we know you are the experts!

1. Adding extra batteries--how many, where, etc.
2. adding more capacity for fresh water..how much, etc.
3. Taking our dogs...I know several of you travel with dogs. How do you handle that, especially when overnighting and getting dogs to shore when necessary.

Looking forward to lots of fun.

Hi and welcome aboard....cool name!

First of all don't do anything with the battery system (it is a system!) until you figure out what you already have, have a plan for where you want to end up, and know how it's going to be implemented. I've all but written a book here on the subject so see if the head nerd here has the search function working correctly and do a little reading (acutally if you click on my profile button and look at my posts you might get them that way too). I'll be happy to answer all your question (as least within the contraints of my time) but it'll help to have some specific questions...it's a very broad subject.

Extra fresh water is probably best done in collapsible containers that can be cleaned. They fit into odd corners and spaces better. Remember two things though...water is heavy and you're at altitude; not a good combination for performance.

Unless you're close enough to shore for the dogs to swim and have a doggie ramp at the stern your best bet is a dinghy. Just how big are they?

Les gives good advice as always. We are adding two group 31 batteries for the refigeration and the inverter (microwave). The engine start will remain, and there will be a second "house" bank.

We use the "pet step"--but haven't tried it with the 25--was perfect for the 22.

We got a 35 gallon collapsable tank for the extra water when necessary. Haven't yet decided where to put it--but it will probably be under the bunk.
We also carry a 6 gallon "emergency" water container in the cockpit.

I understand there is now one spot open on the Delta cruise... May 16-20..
It would sure be a great way to visit other 25's and see how they are rigged...a good way to get used to your boat... plus it's not a long tow for you...
Trust me...it's a GREAT cruise..
