need short piece of used RUBRAIL insert

I've got a 1999 22 footer and have recently reattached both rub rails. My inserts have shrunk and I need a little over a foot to fill in the void. Has anyone who has replaced their rub rail insert saved the old one? I'd gladly pay a bit plus shipping for a small piece. Thanks.

Hi HobbEs,

It is typical for the insert to shrink a little when taken out; particularly when it is cold. I'll bet it will fit just fine if you make a conscious effort to stretch it when you are inserting it. A foot is not too hard to make up if you removed the 44+ feet of plastic insert.

Rollie: I assume I can pull it out but it would just shrink again. It's been in the high 70's here so I can't imagine I'm risking further expansion. Dunno. Think I'd like to try some small pieces on the transom and see how it works.

Dick –send me a PM with your mailing address and I will send you a couple of feet. I replaced my rub rails when I added two feet to my boat. It was for a 2001 16 footer but is probably the same rub rail as the 1999 22 footer.
