Do you replace the bulb or the whole unit?

Jeff,
You just replace the bulb. Easy fix. When you purchase the replacement bulb, it is not a bad idea to purchase a spare or two so you have one always handy on your vessel.

The outside cover comes off, (unscrews), and the bulb is in a slip clip. Sorry I can't remember for sure but I think the screws are in from the outside. I would put some silicone grease on the contacts, to stave off the corrosion.

Hope that helps,

Harvey

this site is awsome!

Yes it is, and since you are currently in the town just north of where I am at for the night (Lake Stevens), I considered opening up the door and shouting the answers to your questions from here.....

(You should join us at one (or all) of the C-Brat gatherings.)

Very Funny!

I'll keep that in mind. With 3 boys in the house, and all my coaching for Little League and basketball, not as much time for using the boatg as I would like.

thanks again,

The boys would probably love the C-Brat gatherings as well. After all, it is a family gathering. Our daughter was 11 years old at the 1st gathering we had and now she is 20 yrs. old and made an appearance at our gathering last Saturday in Renton. Being a C-Brat can be a lifetime experience! This is most likely the only cult you'd want your children to be a part of.

Sometimes the bulb isn't burned out but rather the bulb base and the holder have some corrosion built up. Work checking out before you discard the bulb. John

Agree--look at the wiring and possible corrosion. Also sometimes the spring holding the contacts against the bulb becomes corroded or stuck. While you are at it, clean the other side, and grease the contacts (No grease on the bulb). I also like to use Corrosion Block as a corrosion inhibitor--it can be sprayed on the wires, and contacts before you put on the bulb--still use the silicone grease.
