My uncles new job

Not only is he coming to the next gathering, his boat IS the next gathering! They'll lift all the C-Dories up on deck with davits, so no dock reservations will be needed. And it sounds like the chef will be on board as well, so no potluck will be necessary.

Harry is married to my aunt carrie and lives in St. Thomas. Carrie is a private chief for some texas big money guy and harry runs tugs for the cruise ships and other stuff , cargo, tours, what ever he can find. Well carrie's boss needed a new captian for his fishing boat. 114ft 8000hp and 40knt cruise. and we complain about gas burn.

1 gallon of fuel per hour produces 14 horsepower *

8000 hp divided by 14 = 571 gallons per hour, and

571 gallons times $4.00/gallon (no road tax) = $2285/hour full throttle.

='s Zowie!

I dont know if the out board standarded will work for twin diesal but its got to be big. I looked up the figures on the net and the beam is 26 ft on this thing. sleeps 12 in 6 state rooms plus crew of 6. You have to figure that a boat like this is going to cost 1 million a year to operate. hell $150,000 a year just for crew.

The thing that gets me the most about this boat is the sense of scale -- fishing from something that big must be extraordinarily cumbersome when backing down on tuna or whatever. Seems to me it would be more like being on a commercial fishing boat than a sportfisherman.
