Money Saved from C-Brats Good Advice

I just saved another $80 yesterday by taking the advice of someone on
this website (I think Dr Bob)

I had a stuck anti-siphon valve on my portable fuel tank. In a post quite awhile ago He suggested to someone else to spray Tri-Flow into it to free it and blow it out with air. I gave it a try yesterday and it worked perfectly!
I was thrilled! I saved $80.

My summer project later this year is to make a radar stand out of pvc pipe as he suggests. If all goes according to plan I will be saving a few hundred dollars again!

It got me thinking---if one were to add up all the money saved from the good advice of Dr Bob and all the other wise contributors on this site-- how much money have people saved over the years? How much have you saved by listening to the good advice of this C-Brats website?

Isn't that a wonderful by product of this site! Loads of great and accurate advice.
I figure following El and Bill's lead by retiring early saved us a fortune!!!
Thanks El, Bill. Dr Bob and so many others!!

George -- sure glad the early retirement worked out so well for you. You had the opportunity to share time together you might not have had otherwise -- and still sharing the cruising now.

We agree -- it's nice to save money with information gained from others, but it's more important to have experiences gained from ideas shared with others.

Our lives have been so enriched by those we have met on C-Dories and other boats -- and this site is a wonderful place to share. As originally intended, it is the friendly "pub" where we visit with folks and share thoughts, ideas, and lives.

$$$$ saved.....hmmmm Let's see. Bought a different, newer, bigger pickup. Added a second VHF and other electronics. Upgraded the trailer, and the Bilge pumps, and the fenders, and the anchor and let's see, put on about 600 hours on the boat and about 1000 miles on long tows, Ahhh, $$$$ saved well, lets see, I spent 10 nights on the boat at one stretch last year. One year I got almost 60 nights on board. Have spent numerous nights at Washington State Marine Parks, been to Princes Louisa, sat in the middle of Juan de Fuca and watch a pod of pilot whales feeding for half an hour, I've been across that Strait on mirror flat water (and some other water stages too), Been in some big waves, and a washing machine a few times, and I've seen the sun come up, and go down on the water. Met many wonderful folks, many of who are called Brats, and enjoyed considerable fun hospitality. Towed one boat to the dock, and took a hitch-hiker to town.

I don't know, Money saved maybe, maybe n...... but $$$ invested in life .... every dime was worth it.

Good idea to keep track though,

Harvey
