MOB Device Comparison

I have been using the Fell Marine one now for 2 years, and have been very happy with it. There have been a few times at the dock when I might get off the boat and walk down the dock accidentally shutting down the outboards, but that's OK and no problem, just caught me by surprise that they were off when I left them running. (I can go about a boat length before they shut off.)

It appears that some are made to stop the boat, and others to direct remaining crew / rescue teams to find the person overboard. One would. have to determine what his/her needs are. I would prefer a watch like one which is always worn. The fob type probably would do best on an inflatable life vest.

The only one that actually stops the boat engines is the Fell Marine+. It is wired into the ignition circuit. It is available in either a FOB or a watchband, depending on your preference.

It is also the most expensive and I think the only one that does not connect with a smart phone. I noticed that they did not include one that has an AIS alarm and GPS locator in it.

Did more reading. Looks like the ACR units can be expanded to a system that includes an engine kill switch. Little more $ of course. I like the wrist option more than the FOB units and buying from an established company like ACR vs a French design made in China like the Sea Tags model appeals to me more.
