Mississippi River Points of Interest

Thought I'd start a new thread here, with my fear of wing dams, about possible or best entry points to areas off the mighty Mississippi River. One of my twin sons and I am thinking about a short trip from Dubuque up to Wyalusing State Park near Prairie Du Chien. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the state park and if there is a safe entry point off of the main channel. Looking at the river charts, it appears it can be done south of the state park just south of mile 629. Or are there any good "camping holes" in that area to beach the boat off the main channel. Thanks in advance. Colby

I camped at Wyalusing State Park as a kid and visited there a few years ago in the spring. Car trip not boat. The thought of a boat trip there would be super fun as its a historic and beautiful location. I would try buzzing up river on the Wisconsin River as well. Could be an Epic trip. Sorry I cant speculate about safe entry points but i'm certain a grand adventure awaits.......Good small mouth bass fishing up the Wisconsin river. I used to fish it near Mazomanie and Sauk City when I lived in
Mt. Horeb. Certainly a super shallow draft venue up there.
Take lots of pictures that sounds like a fun trip.
