Mercury outboard information

Does anyone out there know where I can get a manual on an older 25hp Mercury outboard? It was purchased around 1986 and nobody in my area wants to work on it.

There are Clymers and Seloc both have "manuals" which cover this vintage Merc. They are somewhere between an owners manual and a shop manual--usually enough to do the routine and replacement maintance. This vintage motor is fairly simple to work on, and you should have no problems, short of a complete rebuild--then you may want to send it off. I had a 1986 25 hp Merc and it was a good work horse. I put over 1000 hours on it and it was still going strong when I sold it.

You can also check out I-boat forums and other outboard motor forums.
There are lots of experienced people who are glad to answer questions about the older motors. A good resource for help and parts, etc.

I bought a Seloc manual online for my 87' 9.9 Merc and it came with one year online help/reference.
