Maybe an interesting item

Hi folks,

I saw a post on Tugnuts for an interesting endoscope. The writer there is using one to check out bottom paint condition, zincs etc because like many of us who keep the boat in the water year round pulling out for inspection or hiring a diver is expensive. The unit seems quite cheap. He provided this link and I have ordered one. Full disclosure I have no personal experience with the unit.

It occurred to me the when we owned the Venture 23 this would perhaps have been a tool for threading into the hole down by the bilge pump by the water tank and checking for water under the cockpit deck without cutting out an inspection hatch. I'm thinking that it may be useful to check out all sorts of hard to reach places. I'll report back when I have used it.

I have been using a Milwaukee videoscope for a number of years (not waterproof, and only 3 feet long). It is handy for getting into corners and looking at things you cannot normally see.

It will be interesting to see what the resolution is in your "endoscope".

I just ordered one so thank you for posting it.

Primary use,

Aven scoping under the boat or under docks with her tablet and she will love this. I have used a handheld short length unit before but this one is 32 ft long and higher resolution as well.

Should be fun,

Greg
