Marine Railway System

Are there any C-Dory folks out there that use a railway system like this:

Or any other kind of system(s) being used to keep the boat out of the water.

I curious what people have found works well with a CD22 or CD25. Trailering is certainly easy but I live on the water and I'm thinking about a way to keep the boat high and dry in my backyard when not being used.

I have seen these in the area but have never used on or seen one while being used. They look like a good set up. Are you on a lake or salt?

I live on a large inland lake (Muskegon Lake) that is connect to Lake Michigan. All fresh water.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep the boat in my backyard. I've considered a standard hoist but I hate the idea of having to take it out of the water in the winter. With the rail system, I would probably just lift the rails above the water level in the winter. And if the ice melts, I could drop them back down and go for ride!

I could also build a boat house around this rail system which would be really functional.

We used a non-exotic system like this decades ago on Lake Michigan. No fancy carriage and no rails, just railroad ties with rollers on them we'd lay across the beach to the boat house (a garage facing the lake). The few rollers in the water were on steel beams, not ties. Winch in the boat house was nothing more than a large pulley/turning block which lead heavy line to the trailer hitch on the olde Buick and down to the towing eye on the boat.
