Marine Kettle BBQ

Could anybody send me pictures or let me know if you have a Marine Kettle BBQ installed on your Dory? I just got done placing one on our C Dory but it just seems like it is to close to the boat.

We use a propane Magma kettle and mount is w/ a #400082 rail mount.

No problems. I just don't mount it hear the gas breather/filler or fuel lines. We used to cook over the port side, but since we installed the stern splash-well rail, I mount it to that and mount a Starboard table next to it.

I think what I'm going to have to do is get a well rail installed on the stern of the boat prior to using the grill. Currently, the only places to hook it up are either on the bow or the stainless steel rail handles, but the rail handles won't work simply because they are right next to the fueling cap. The gentleman that I purchased the boat from gave me the grill for free. If I were to purchase one I would definitely go with the propane but it is hard to beat free.

Thanks for the info.

We have a Scotty rod holder plastic bracket mounted mid-way along the gunnel on each side of the boat, so depending on wind & gear conflicts we can use either side. The kettle mount goes in the Scotty holder. When operating the kettle is about 3 feet from the filler/ breather hanging out over the water. My BBQ is propane & I can't conceive that there would ever be enough fuel fumes to ignite.

Kevin,

We use a party size Magma kettle mounted as seen here,

The fuel tank vent can be seen at the extreme Right of the photo. When rafted up to C-Renity last Summer, we wrapped the fuel vent on his boat with blue masking tape when it seemed too close.

I agree the Magma can be more of a crematorium than a grill if you are not careful. Seems like Tim Flanagan (Two Lucky Fish) had a solution involving replacing the regulator but I can't seem to find it.
anyone remember what it was?
