Managing TC-255 storage problems

Roger: Great ideas and execution! I especially like the way you modified the hatch covers. Did the hatch under your table have a finger hole in the center of it? Were you able to reuse the existing hatch? Also, those spring-type struts look perfect, where did you get them?

The hatch under the table had a stainless pull like the forward hatches. I did cut it in half to make the new doors. The spring-struts are from West marine. Both hatch doors now have them.

Thanks Roger. (You've inspired me to get busy and post pictures of some of the recent modifications I made to Thumper.)
 
Roger, my wife thinks that a drawer, instead of the two hatch covers, under the dinette would be better. I am afraid that it would eat up too much vertical space (our pots and pans barely fit now, as it is.) Also I don't have any sense of how difficult it would be to implement. What do you think?

I can only respond as relates to my "drawer for the freezer" under the foreward seat. To put the railings in, we had to put about 2" thick 2 x 2"s for the railing mounts. there will have to be at least 2" below and 2" above to keep the intregrity of the dinette and keep the foot area intact, the way it is built. Also it is right in front of the galley, so you have to move foreward or aft to use the drawer. The freezer comes out to a point where it takes up the entie Isle.

I'll be interested to see what Roger (Dreamer) thinks.
 
We picked up our TomCat from Master Marine (Mt. Vernon, WA) this spring. We love it! Seeing all of the great ideas about storage problems and solutions in this thread, inspired me to post some pictures of the modifications I've made to our TomCat over the summer. Wow! 'Looks like you two have really been busy since we met here in the Flatlands last Fall. I really like the mods to your boat, and envy your scenery and fishery.

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm going to investigate that raised helm platform this Fall.

I'm not certain that I would refer to the reference of this being a "new" thread in this case since it is dated 2007....However, it does emphasize that there are volumes of historical threads on this site that offer a wealth of ideas and knowledge. I would guess that it would take an individual at least a solid year of 24 hour a day reading to read all of the threads in the site's archives.

(It would probably take days just to read all the comments about "twins vs singles" ..... :roll: )

( I do realize that you were most likely referring that this is a new thread to you... :wink )
