Just got home from East Texas with the 22' Cruiser. Wow, what a trip. The boat is in good shape, has a few minor dings here/there, nothing some elbow grease and cold beer cant fix. The df60 only has >200 hours on it, there are bits of disintegrated fuel lines in the injectors, should be easy to fix.

Came home the whole way into a wicked headwind and my overdrive quit. These Dorys really catch the wind. My MPG went down to 12, stopped in Phoenix and hit electronics shop and rigged up a potentiometer and had the luxury of OD for the last leg. Battery powered soldering irons are underrated.

Way to go! Congrats on getting your new C-Dory home :gift

From reading bunches of towing threads here over the years, it seems like (with exceptions of course) 12 mpg is the "official towing mileage" with a 22 in tow behind something that normally gets 16-20 or thereabouts. I would get 16-18 mpg with my gas-powered 3/4 ton van not towing and .... 12 when towing.

Now I tow with a small RV and can only dream of 12

Thanks for posting the follow up - great to hear you are home with your new boat. Sounds like you have mad fixit skillz :thup

My navigator John is the one with the mad "fix-it" skillz, I mostly handed him things, thought I did solder one connection while he went to the bathroom.

Congrats on the new boat! :thup It should give you years of enjoyment.

For the record, once you get a cabin-type boat (or an RV), that is a guarantee that Mother Nature will have fun with you when you tow. Forget about wind predictions from the weather weasels... the grill of your truck will be the indicator that will always be the direction the wind is coming from.

Of course, I am kidding - sometimes it will blow like stink from abeam. 8)

Enjoy your new boat!

Jim
