Lowrance NauticPAth Maps

Not yet but soon I hope. I am still installing my new Lowrance X-26 which came preloaded with all the Nauticpath charts. I hope to launch within the next week and I will give you a report.

Did you get the radar to go with it? I'm really looking at the Lowrance right now for chartplotting and radar. Don't so much care about the sonar, but I do like what I've read so far about the Lowrance and price wise it seems to be pretty decent.

Catdogcat- I purchased Navionics Hot Maps premium from Cabelas. I have not used it on the water yet. Still waiting for the Ice to go away :evil: :x :? :amgry . But fooling around with the chart plotter it sure looks good.

Im very sceptical with E-Bay electronics that are dirt cheap. Best thing is to go to a store and have the sales guy instal a map and play with it for awhile to see if its what you want.

I see Lowrance as some neat stuff to hook into your fish finders/GPS units. Fuel sensors ect. Very neat and affordable.

Here's an update for the Nautic Path maps. Just thought folks would find this info usefull. I picked up the Nautic Path maps that cover the entire US coast.
I bought them without seeing them first and was quite nervous about the detail in Alaska, especially at a price of 99.00. I have to say that I'm quite impressed. The detail rivals any Noaa maps I've seen of my area (kachemak Bay) with the added bonus of Points of interests (wrecks, resteraunts, ect). A cool feature that is included in the maps are the tide icons that show all the tidal info for the area. The only downfall that I have noticed is that could show a little more detail for the under water terrain, such as shelves and holes. It does show various depths in extreme detail but lacks in visual drawings of structures, holes, shelves. The drawings are there but just could use a little more detail. I just bought a Lowrance H2Oc and had the choice of NauticPath or Navionics to go along with it. The problem I found was that the NauticPath was lacking in good contour lines in places. Since I'm going to be using these charts for fishing I like to be able to follow the contour lines so I can fish on the bottom and try and hold the boat at a steady depth. This just isn't possible with the NauticPath in some of the areas I was looking at in the Puget Sound.

For route planning I think they have plenty of detail though.

I finally got everything installed and fired up the display. The Nauticpath maps look great to me. I checked several areas on the coast and the detail is fine for my use. I checked the detail on the Columbia river near Cathlamet (the only area I am half-way familiar with) and I think it would allow easy navigation in the main channels. Near shore detail may not be quite as good as the paper chart. Since it came loaded in my unit and the price was right, I would say I am happy so far.
