BTW- I try not to talk about specific pricing on boats on this site, because different dealers have different freight costs and margins they need to make.

Part of the dealer agreement (and the agreement for most manufacturers)is to not publish boat pricing on current model product on the web. It is a disservice to somebody like Mark at Wefings for a west coast dealer to talk price when our freight from the factory is a few hundred dollars versus his freight costs that could be $5000 or more.

I strongly encourage people to shop their local dealer, because they'll want that local support if there are any issues.

One of the problems with Master Marine is the turnover in the sales staff. To be fair, it is probably a hard way to make a buck in this economic environment. Dick and Larry are always there but do not seem to take an active role in the sales process (I have never seen them post here, for example.). I know many of the people there so it is not a problem for me, but I can see how it would be for someone "new".

If you considered a Ranger Tug, I'll just clue you in to two deals. 1st, there is a Ranger Tug with a Cummins 150 and everything else brand new in Anacortes, Wa and on a trailer for 125k. Second, the C Dory factory has a 2007 C Dory 25 they took back from a failed dealer. It's brand new and has a lot of xtras and you can get that for about 82k or so. Just call any dealer and tell them you are interested in that boat and they can get it. I looked at it today but the bottom line just doesn't work for me since I currently own a 22 cruiser. Anyway, good luck on the search.

I realised that I never did announce the result of our search. Earlier this summer we bought a new 2008 Venture 23 from Port Boat House in Port Alberni. [Great people to do business with]. After struggling to think of a 'C' name we are going to stick with Chimo, the name we have had for our boat since whenever. She is currently in a slip in Sidney BC but not getting enough use because of work and travel. We had her bottom epoxied and painted before going in the water.

We are truly delighted with everything about her after years of being Boston Whaler fanatics. For those that are interested, the performance with twin 60 hp Yamahas is just about right on what is shown in the spec. sheet on the current website. That's with a half full water tank, 60 gals of gas on board and 2 people + gear. Very acceptable.

Hope to meet up with a few more C-D people around the Island.

Congrats on the new boat. I was in Sidney last week for 2 days staying at the hotel a couple of doors down from the marina. We stayed there as a recon trip for an adventure next year. We certainly liked Sydney.
 
Caryn and I love Sidney. We were just there a couple of weeks ago at the Port Sidney Marina. It's a beautiful marina with close access to a nice town. Definitely one of our favorite destinations.
