look what followed me home.

Chromer, It will be fishing soon. i wanted to hit the las day of halibut in the striats but it was not in the cards. I will be mounting new downriggers soon.

this weekend we left everett saturday afternoon and ran to la connor to have dinner with my folks on thier boat.

Sunday a good friend of ours, Tana, came up for a ride And Ruth and Joe showed up for a tour of the boat before hang out with my folks. We left the south end of La connor channel and ran out under the deception pass bridge. The 40 ft pig in front of me was making all of 4 knots in to a 6 knot current and was weaving all over the place. it was nice to have the power to get around him and out of the way. We ran out to the false bay area to look for killer whales only to learn on the vhf that they were in front of friday harbor. It was just three T's and not much of a show but well worth the trip. After a late lunch in friday harbor we ran all the way back to la connor for a nother night on the dock.

Larry was on his boat working all weekend so we were able to visit with him a bit. He is in the middle of installing a slew or new electronic and auto pilots. It was hard to find him on his boat under all the tools and wire and other gear that had to be moved to get to the wireing. By monday he had most of it cleaned up.

Lori and Warren came by for a tour and lunch. After a long look at the new boat we went for lunch. Susan was not feeling very well and Warren drove her home for me. I did not want here bounching around in the high wind if she did not have to. I ran home by my self later in the day and the ride was not as bad as i was thinking.

I have not checked the total milage this weekend and the gas burned yet but i will report later. After getting home at 7 I spent three hours cleaning and doing stuff to the boat. lot of little things to do the first few times.

Lessons learned. Shes fast, but she burns gas. I have to be more carefull about fuel levels and which tanks are being used. ended up with a lean to port most of sunday. the ride with the cavans up and sitting all the way in the back is very smooth for guest. I have to learn to use a two lever control. one for forward reverse and the other for throttle. I have always used single level controls. I almost pulled susan off the dock at friday harbor when I pushed the throttle forward to stop back ward movement but was still in reverse ( dumb ass) . ened up going really fast in reverse. I could have hurt her and I cant have that. I have to relearn docking now.

I have a lot to do to this boat but it is clear after the last two days that this boat is the right boat for us. She has a ton of room for Susan, me and the dog. I love having and head. the back deck will fix four to six chairs with out tripping on each other. Don did a really great job riggeing this boat and after a few more mods that reflect how I boat it will be complete. I will post all the work on another thread as I go. i have seveal projects set for this week already. see you on the water or just stop by after 6 for a look see.

Hi Tom

We are back in your old stomping grounds in Calif. Yep that boat really looked sweet flying across Saratoga passage. I will get my boat out on the Delta this weekend and then bring it back to Camano in July to play. Have fun doing all the upgrades. Do we see a new tow rig in your future?

Tom and Susan,

So, I finally found the photos and info and you two did yourselves proud :D This looks like the perfect boat for you both, and I too am most anxious to see her and all your specialized touches :!:

Way to go!

I have been working till dark every night to get the windlass in and now Iam working on the espar heater. Should have that finished by friday.. I also had to install new fuel gages as the old ones leaked in the tanks and one did not work at all. I am also installing new cabin lights in the v-berth, hand rails for my wife, trying to get downrigger mounts made. etc etc etc....

Tom,

Congrats on your new to you purchase. I have always been intrigued with the 27' CD as there are quite a few here in Alaska.
You may know that I went through the same drill as you when getting my 26' ProAngler. It was a great buy for me and I have no regrets. I do miss the 22' fuel economy but it is only money and we come this way only once.
That 27' Cruiser in Anchorage has some "warts" on it and will require some relatively major fiberglass work on it to make it "proper".
I would be interested in your MPG at cruise speed after you get it all set-up. I have been able to trim mine out to get 2.5 mpg at 22 mph.
Enjoy your CD.
